So is the game getting a bit stale or redundant? Are you getting a ton of Assault Rifle kills but hardly any bomb, charge, or grenade launcher kills? Perhaps you lack the concept of Mortar Combat.

Have no fear. This is a guide that, with lack of flashy formatting, explain to you in detail how to use a couple of the classes - Assault and Gunner - As a jack of all trades kind of package.

    -Assault-

A good class to start out with. Let's state what the Assault is really good at going: Pissing people off. Killing pros. Not much to work with here. Let's see what we can do.

Endorsements that are good for the Assault: Armor, Rate of Fire, Skill Recovery, Accuracy, Clip Size and crit shot. Speed is alright, but not a necessity. As you can see the Assault has a lot of endorsements that are capable of boosting his game. So I could give you one cheap *** boring set up like ROF, Armor, ACCURACY or ROF, Accuracy, Clip Size/Crit and tell you to killhoar. But those only do one thing. They get you kills. Lots of them. But that's it. There isn't much else to those classes, and there sure as hell is no style or innovation put into the character. So let's eliminate Clip size and crit. We can pick up speed boosts so take that out. Armor is sexy on anything, but let's pretend that we have some skill and we don't need that armor. That leaves ROF, Skill Rec, and Accuracy.

I have three sets here that, if used properly, should give your Assault an entirely new style of play.

    ~Rate of Fire
    ~Skill Recovery
    ~Accuracy

Going from gold at the top and down. This allows you to use a nice grenade launcher, fend off a lot of enemies with your AR, use your bomb practically anytime you need it, and your charge will give you huge escaping (or chasing) chances in case you need that extra push.

    ~Skill Recovery
    ~Rate of Fire
    ~Accuracy

Just switching the top two around doesn't change too much. Your bomb is always available when ready, sometimes I even get to use it twice in every encounter. Jet pack charges fast. Charge is amazing. Your Assault has some skills. Your accuracy still isn't the greatest, but it's a lot better then no accuracy on him.

    ~Skill Recovery
    ~Accuracy
    ~Rate of Fire

This is surprisingly the one I have had the most success with online. The grenade launcher still gets you kills when possible. You lose a little bit of bot killing potential, but hey, you should be using your melee anyways. The assault's job is mostly done best when he is antagonizing or killing enemy pros and gaining juice.

Now how does this make the Assault a jackie chan? Well, it allows use of all three of his skills more often. His bomb makes him a deadly jack bot killer, second to none in a reasonable respect. His high mobility makes him a hard target to hit if you treat it with respect. Don't stand there ADS at a Gunner or a Sniper. You're asking to die like that. Use tactics. Kill with something other then the AR. A level three bomb OHKOs any sniper or assassin without silver armor or higher. It does major damage to every class, so having it ready as a nice battle starter often is good. It's an awesome money ball destroyer. Your bomb can also launch you places very fast and very far. It's possible to get on top of the annihilator in Grenade III and Lazor Razor. You can also get on top of steel peel's dome. I wouldn't recommend this as it has little use to an assault, but it does illustrate a point.

His charge is a great maneuver to catch an injured enemy or to escape when need be. It's also a good defense against juiced enemies. You can aim it right and knock them off the edge. It''s amazing at how well it screws over enemy assassin's as well. It can help you finish off the gunner with a HEADBUTT from the air! Your jet pack is a neat little tool. In the middle of all your bunny hopping, throw a slight second of jet in there. Confuse your enemy in the sense that he doesn't know how to respond to an enemy higher then him. When he goes up, come back down and move to a side. Jump, rinse and repeat. You'll be one hard target to even touch. You can use your level 2 fly at the start of grenade III an enter the enemy base, from your base as soon as the match begins. You do not need to bomb jump to do this. Kudos if you know how or if you can figure it out. I am the only person I know of who knows how to do this. I anticipate that it won't be much longer though till others do it. I've "discovered" a lot of things that are now being used quite frequently.

Juice usage should be based on the situation and your endorsements. You can use Juice with a gold or Silver ROF to take out enemy turrets that are damaged or low leveled. Don't ever rush into a level 3 Rockit turret though. No extra armor means you lose health quicker, even juiced.

I usually find myself upgrading skills based on the stage and situation. Use your own experience and knowledge to come up with something here.

Now we can move on to the gunner. The gunner is, in my opinion, the most flexible of all the classes. He has health, fire power, and with the right endorsements is probably the best jackie chan out there.

His best endorsements are : Rate of Fire, Speed, Accuracy, Armor, clip size, Crit, Health Recovery, Reload Speed, the list goes on and on! No doubt if your team discovers bacon in a competitive match, your gunner may be the one who should get it if you can take care of it long enough for him to get there.

So obviously we have to eliminate something. Reload speed has to be the first to go. If you know what you are doing, you'll never be caught reloading. Clip size and crit are next. With his already monstrous mag and deploy for crit, the gunner really doesn't need them. Armor is a good one, so let's not count it out. But let's keep in mind that it isn't necessary to make Gold. That leaves ROF, Speed, and health recovery. Well, HR isn't amazing unless you can get away to recover, and even then you're still waiting four seconds for your health to get back up. It's an alright choice as gold, but there are better. So eliminate it.

Here are some sets I run. Assume ROF is gold for every single one of these.

    RoF
    Speed
    Armor

For the early assassin counter. You survive a backstab but not when they lunge. You usually can fight an assassin off if you know what you're doing.

    RoF
    Speed
    Accuracy

    For the killhoar.

    RoF
    Armor OR accuracy
    Accuracy OR Armor

    For the peace of mind.

Now the strategy behind this setup is the mortars. Holy hell, it's the mother F*ckin GOD BLESSED MORTARS! You can take a Passive 2 gunner and wipe out the enemy base. I call this strategy an early economic crisis. Passive 3 gunner is just insane. Two supports being tied down to one turret is just sad, especially since the gunner will get more juice then the two combined and win in the end anyways.

For the first setup, your speed and ROF will get you everywhere and everything you need. You can swap speed to gold and ROF to silver, but i find that the mortars potential are heavily reduced. ROF also helps your minigun. Speed also increases how far and how high you can jet jump.

The second one is for the person who still wants just enough accuracy to get medium ranged kills while bunny hopping like a mofo. I find that bronze accuracy helps a lot then no accuracy at all. However after getting more experience under my belt, I have come to see that silver accuracy is the minimum to justify the use of accuracy on a gunner for the simple fact that a gunner can get all of his kills at close range with his minigun.

The third one is for the logical thinker. You can pick up speed power ups. You have the extra durability and you also have the accuracy you need.

So some tips to remember with this Gunner. Bunny hop, bunny hop, bunny hop. I don't claw when playing as my gunner, I just know how to bunny hop really well. Don't stand head to head with a gunner using a boring *** Minigun setup of Armor ROF and Crit cause you'll lose everything. Mortar everything. Turrets. Bots. Pros. As long as your mortar splits, it's deadly. Minigun and finish with mortar, sometimes, if you run out of minigun on a retreating enemy mortar them. You deal great DPS. When grappled by an assassin, slam because you know if she doesn't jump, she's fucked, and if she does jump, you're well prepared to dodge and strike back. Use mortars at long range to counter snipers, but don't stay in there line of sight for too long. You're still a huge target. Don't walk, bunny hop. Hover some and let loose and rinse and repeat. You move quicker and you are harder to hit.

To get the most out of these setups your armor is crucial. Rush passive three like normal. Based on the situation, upgrade deploy 2 or slam 2. Both increase defense. Deploy is a nice way to get extra money but a well timed slam will mess with a lot of people. Then whichever you didn't get to level 2, upgrade it. Then deploy 3 and slam 3. Your health starts out as low as an assault's. But your upgrades give you a nice boost, which is why I said gold armor isn't necessary. Use it for something a little bit better. I suggest it on bronze though. It gets the job done if you know how to use the gunner. In gunner vs gunner matches just jump and shoot, they will miss and you will tear through them in no time.

Now bare in mind that these sets are definitely not for everyone who enjoys the assault or the gunner. It will demand a different style of play then you are used to. I'm not saying that the cookie cutter classes suck or are cheap, they are cookie cutter for a reason after all. Take this guide as an eye opener that there are other strategies out there and different ways to play your classes. You don't need to have the baked plans while occasionally serving someone a cookie with poison in it laid out in front of you. This game is a strategy game. Feel free to tweak any set I put up on here and feel free to use either of them. If you don't like it, no worries, it's fine. I'm not saying you suck. I'm just saying you really need to be an experienced PvP artist and a decent tactician to pull the ideas behind these classes out. No one can tell you what to do when the situation arises, you just have to practice and know.

You can do it level 1 fly actually (with no skill recovery or bomb jumping).

    No.
    No.
Better. Always use Armour, RoF, Accuracy in pretty much any order. You even say it so yourself that you can pick up speed pick-ups, so there's literally no point in using it as an endorsment.

By then she'll have sliced you to death if you slam. Just shoot the f*** outta her.

Unless they also jump and shoot and if they are running a higher armoured class they will probably beat you.

Unfortunately, you are right about the speed pick ups. But that doesn't change the fact that if you can get away with one of these setups, then you're in good shape because you will always have that extra speed and you won't have to scrounge around for it. It's also a nice tool for running away.

And I have to disagree with you on the whole armor thing. The gunner kills too fast. Odds are if you get the jump on someone, which usually happens a lot, you can dish out more damage then they can. He gets a lot of armor through his upgrades and that combined with his high DPS sets him above what the typical player can come back from. I've taken out pilkey's Gunner many times head to head with the first set as well as a good bit of other decent Gunners. The game is about adaptability. If you use this set and struggle 1v1 against other Gunners, don't engage unless their backs are turned. It's as simple as that. It still gives you the speed you need to catch that tank, assault, sniper, assassin or support running away and can get you out of the fray in the blink of an eye.

However you decide to handle the assassin, a decent one will usually score a kill on you once she has managed a grapple or a grapple lunge combo. I'm constantly taking out Gunners with her from behind and the front, sometimes without grappling period.

lol I know how to do it with level 1, but not from my spawn.

If both Gunners have their miniguns spun up and all their shots hit, Armour/RoF/Acc will beat RoF/Speed/Clipsize. Against another Gunner of equal skill you need to have Armour/RoF/Accuracy in your endorsments (not necesseraly in that order).

Of course if all bullets hit then the one with armor will win. No one is trying to say otherwise. Give the sets a try before knocking them. All I am saying is that it will give you some more insight on how the classes work.

I've played Gunner, hell mnc, long enough to know that speed is a useless endorsment. If you run it as an endorsment you are just handicapping yourself since you can run e.g armour in it's place, kill people because you have armour, then pick up the dropped speed pick-ups.

It appears that you're assuming that since I am new to the forums that I am new to the game. Whatever floats your boat. I pull my fair share of weight in online games, and then some on more occasions.

These setups are not an entire reflection of what I play when I am trying to become a monster in Kills. They are setups I run when I am alone, have no "team" and need to be able to do multiple things at a time such as bot control, turret destruction, and have the ability to mow down an enemy that gets just a bit too close.

I assure you, Zatchmo, that I know enough about this game to give people guidance. Being capable to play every class on every stage quite well, I'm a pretty high rank on the xbox leaderboards and I'm still climbing pretty rapidly. I've had the game since it's came out, and have played it seriously for a few months. I'm a great tactician, and it shows in many strategy games such as Chess, TD games, FPS's etc. I do not know all. I am not the all knowing of this game. I can admit that. But can anyone swallow their pride long enough to test out the sets? As I mentioned earlier, I took out Pilkey who was being leashed while using gold armor and deploy with my speed setup. Not because I ran into him gun's blazing, but because I follow an ancient and simple rule of war. "Choose your battle." "He who seeks victory then goes to war, will topple he who goes to war then seeks victory." - Sun Tzu. Both mean to use strategy overcome an opponent that is superior to you in strength.

This is a guide to use two said classes different then a normal player would. I don't settle for cookie cutter. I settle for what is tried and true. No one has seemed to horribly disagree with my Assault setups. Before saying the sets are ****, give them a shot and then, even if they don't stand up to your elite standards, reach a fair and unbiased understanding of the point I am trying to make.

This is where I stopped reading. No one cares how high your rank is...I've seen people who are clearly better then most without even being an all star and I've seen jackbots that were pitiful. Just because your rank is high doesn't mean you know how to play and judging by your guides and the way you talk about match ups I don't think you have any knowledge outside of pubs against splitscreeners.

owait...lemme know your rank...I care about it just as much as im BEASTIN yo diggity's K/D ratio....

No kidding? Who woulda thought that your rank really didn't imply skill but merely how much you play. To stop reading and make an assumption based on your own ideas is pretty immature.

The biggest difference between pubs and private matches is that you have individuals that can work together as a team as opposed to running off and doing their own thing. I've seen videos before, I've also played with many people such as Nepharius and the people I see posting on here often. It's, shockingly enough, not much different then when I have a team of players working together to win.

I've yet to meet someone who was extremely special at this game. I've seen people do good because of a support leashing them, I've seen monstrous KD because of juice and farming, but I've only seen one pub match where the team actually did work together beautifully and woe and behold it had the leaders on the leaderboards involved such as chaosff7, MLGIntervention, Shammas, etc.

The leaderboard may not be the best indicator of a person's skill but it does give you a little insight of how decent they are. Whether it be kill whoring or actually performing their objective is a completely different story.

What's your Gamertag Buffacumber? I bet I've played against you and won the match before. Several times.

But here you go. Let's all throw Armor, RoF and Accuracy on the Assault. Don't forget the tank that has RoF, Armor and Skill Recovery. The Gunner that has Armor, RoF and Accuracy and his butt-buddy. That's basically all I've seen out of the "elite". I have no problem against cookie cutters. I admit they are good and I see no reason to say otherwise. But what does get me is when people get in this state of mind that says there is nothing else out there. What is the best, is the best, and must stay the best. That shows no progression. No willingness to improve or the desire to learn. A real life example is Newtonian Physics versus Quantum Physics. Take a look into that debate and see what side you pick.

On a side note, it also creates cocky bastards that think they are better then everyone else because they have a cookie cutter setup with a cookie cutter strategy and a cookie cutter team all working together to bake one huge cake. It's boring. Yeah it's cool you get to kick ***. But it's boring using the same old **** over and over.

"If fighting is sure to result in victory, then you must fight! Sun Tzu said that - and I think he knows a little more about fighting than you do, pal; because HE INVENTED IT! And then he perfected it, so that no living man could best him in the ring of honor!"

Pick those endorsements, get beaten by a gunner who runs armor/RoF/xxx = Success

Where does your quote even fit in? lol It just illustrates my point even more! You PICK THE FIGHTS YOU KNOW YOU CAN WIN! Jesus lol the idiocy!

My example from earlier. You're a Gunner with Bronze armor and you meet another Gunner with Gold Armor. You both are of same skill but with different styles of combat. You know that his style will outplay yours due to the extra health. So you choose not to fight him head on, because you will lose.

Well his back is turned now and he is focusing on something else. You can get the first shot in, and before the other Gunner knows it, you've mowed his *** down. Holy **** batman! Take a grand look at that quote! A fight that was sure to result in victory, so I take it, and I won! Wow!

Common flippin' sense tells ya that much man. Don't jump on the hate train just because others are doing it, especially with a poorly thought out attack like that

Can we at least "try" to make it look like we aren't trolling a new guy here?

both wildman and myself are two of the best, if not THE best gunners in this game; remember that before you tell us we dont know anything regarding your gunner builds.

    ALSO:
whenever i kill a gunner that uses a speed endorsement, i will taunt twice; once for th cash and twice just because raw power with a good build will beat strategy with a crap build any day of the week.

you know what? i cant even tell you how many times i have been shot in the back by a gunner with a crap buid, only to turn around and mow him down.

    (and taunt twice)

((and your assault builds mostly suck as well))
