Is using Gold Rate of Fire on the Sniper cheap?

I like to use it purely because it gets kills faster, takes out bots faster, and because I don't see any other endorsement that would make a difference at gold. But I could see where it would promote more body shots instead of aiming for the 'ol noggin. Weigh in, I'd like to hear about it.

i dont use it as an honor thing. the reward i get is that 2/3 of my kills are headshots, which looks good on a resume i suppose.

if you play right, you can zone better with a skill-pill sniper. speed also is nice for zoning, as well as taking compact spaces on the ground-level

thus if your going to use a gold rateOFfire sniper, its used for pushing, and you shoot from a elevated position with long reach. tho most snipers push and just shell out damage much more commonly than zoning snipers, so gold rate is more common.

doesnt mean i think its OP to shoot your own bots with explosive rounds, because they would be underbalanced otherwise. and shelling out damage like that makes you an easy target and suseptable to being attacked, since its so obvious where you are and your seeable from a range. assassins and tanks with some railgun shennanigans are more of a problem for trigger-happy lane-snipers.

Totally not cheap. If it improves the damage you do, why not use gold RoF? Why would you want to do less damage because you think more damage is somehow "cheap"?

And body shots are good. Sometimes people like to jump around until they can reach cover and think they're sooooo slick until you shoot their foot for a kill mid-jump. body shots require skill, too, and the more damage you can do, the more of a threat you make yourself to the enemy team, which would make them think twice before going out into an open area that you control.

There's no shame in body shots. Good players constantly weave and bunnyhop, making headshots more of a luck thing when it comes to the smaller more mobile classes. Get headshots where you can, but there are plenty of situations where it simply makes more sense to body shot.

yeah......i did that by level 22

its only 500 headshots you can get that in less than a week playing as a sniper

plus i would rather get the guaranteed kill and keep an enemy from recovering or killing a teammate

sometimes going for a bodyshot can lose you kills too, and get you killed since bodyshots make you focus longer down a scope while an assassin is lining up some shurikens.

ROF can make a sniper more powerful but in my opinion, the thing about the sniper that makes least sense and is most OP is the grapple.

Im inclined to give the sniper crazy powers at range - not sure Im loving the explosive rounds but I'll even overlook that nonsense since it is still part of a ranged attack - thats their job. But of all classes in the game to give a crazy powerful and effective grapple it goes to the sniper? Really?? Close range is where the sniper should have the LEAST power.

Snipers shouldnt be able to run and gun with the Uzi and grapple (not to mention flak) as often as I see it. To me, if you manage to outmaneuver him with his traps and close range on him without taking a shell to the noggin, you should not have to contend with one of the strongest close range abilities in the game.

I have a similar issue with the Tank and his Rail gun - he is the master of close range already with his death spin and charge and I get that he needs another weapon with more range than his flamethrower but the rail gun just seems TOO accurate...I think something that loses effectiveness or accuracy (or even something like a grenade launcher that you have to lob) would have been a better choice.

Just my opinion and I realize nothing about either classes is going to change but the sniper seems to me to be the least balanced class around.

I don't think that it does that much to help. I can't think of a situation where Gold Armour would have saved and where Silver failed. For this I'm thinking maybe of an Assassin front grapple, you wouldn't really survive one with that much extra health, so I think being able to shoot that much faster is a better trade off.

Man, sniper is cheap by design in this game. Do what you want with him.

I can't think of any of my custom classes that don't have some kind of RoF endorsement.

    Sniper :gold
    Tank :gold
    Support :gold
Gunner was gold but now silver
    Rest are silver.

It may seem cheap and it does take some of the skill from snipeing but a sniper needs to get shots off fast and the faster the better.
