I have faith that if Uber could easily fix getting put on separate teams from your party they would do it. But one DLC and two major updates later and it still isn't fixed. Is there something in the matchmaking code that makes this impossible? Can someone just come out and say they probably can't fix it ever?

    What's wrong with it?

The first game, you'll likely be on opposite teams, because matchmaking wants to get you into a game ASAP. All games after the first will have you on the same team, except people like you are impatient and quit out after every game, meaning that you'll always be on opposite teams...

I understand getting split when joining in progress, but me and my group will be playing together for a while and all of a sudden we start getting split up even on new games.

I'm not sure if we mentioned this on other threads but here's some thinking behind parties and splitting.

Before we launched the game, we didn't have any idea if the game would sell 1 copy or thousands of copies. So to make sure there were enough full games to jump into we favored join in progress over joining into a lobby. Also we wanted players to be able to find a game quickly as possible.

Because our player base is relatively small compared to CoD or Halo, we don't matchmake parties vs other parties exclusively which is what we would need to do to 100% guarantee no splitting. The smaller the party the greater the chance of splitting occurs when joining in progress depending on various factors, players quitting, new players joining, migration, etc.

We've done some work to make the splitting better but depending on your connection, play style, party size, skill level, etc it still happens. There maybe be other things we can do to make splitting better but this isn't a simple solution given all the factors involved. We are sorry you're having so many issues with it.
