I love the beta and play it multiplayer all the time, but there are a few things that seem to come up that aren't bugs, but are things that need to be tweaked for better gameplay. One thing that we have noticed is that the orbital units are very difficult to keep track of. A suggestion to fix this is when you zoom out have a strictly orbital layer that is a slight dead spot in the scroll to outer space so you can stop there easily. This layer fades the planet below, still highlighting the on the planet for targeting purposes, but it is a fixed orbit view that is intended to make your orbital units easy to access.
Second, is I know that Uber wants to avoid a tech tree, and I am all for that, I hate tech trees, but I think the commander should have upgrade options in game. That way he can stay relevant throughout the game and not be just an important piece of hitpoints that you are shuttling around trying to keep away from harm.

I think Uber is tracking all of our user interface suggestions.
I'm pretty sure they have noticed this too. I think we just have to sit tight right now.

This has been discussed at length for quite some time now.

In the current code I have on my machine we've introduced the concept of an orbital layer that helps with it. Still in dev but coming along.
