I had not played PA in a while, and gave a try to build 69564 the other day. I went straight to galactic war and picked up where I left it. About 5 minutes into the game, it froze: the mouse was responding (I was able to pan, zoom, etc...) but did not interact anymore (no orders, couldn't select, etc.). After a moment like this, the game crashed, and I was back to Windows with a message from the OS that PA was taking too much memory. However, my 8 GB of RAM were far from full.

I tried again this morning with build 69721, and got the same issue. Anybody experiencing the same? What could be the issue?

You probably need to increase your page file size quite a bit. I had issues after I disabled my page file thinking 16gb was enough ram.

This might be the issue, as I just recently ran a utility that came with my SSD (Samsung Magician) and one of the "optimization" it made was to reduce the pagefile. What size should I set it for PA to run smoothly?

Set it to Auto (i.e. windows manages it)... some things you shouldn't do to an SSD (defrag!) however I don't really see the page file as that much of a problem.

I had the same issues, setting the page file to 'Auto' instantly fixed it

16gb IS enough ram :) but Windows really needs a pagefile to function because of reasons.
Disabling it entirely leads to weird problems, I experienced the same thing after disabling it.

Not had any problems disabling the paging file until PA. Just, you know, for the record.

Probably haven't had anything quite as memory intensive either though.
