Should instant-striking be allowed in PM's? Instant-striking is throwing an air strike , hitting the death zone under the map causing the strike to instantly hit on the platform above! Recently there has been lots of controversy on instant-strikes being allowed in Pm's.

Why is this cheap? Instant striking is a glitch and is not an intentional addition to the game. Additionally the time to dodge an instant-strike is relative to where you are. Usually to dodge one is extremely painful, and also impossible to see.

What do you think? Tell me what you think and why you think that.

Intentional insta-strike is bad. Accidental is accidental.

Why? Just my opinion. If we agree that it is ok then I have no problem with it because we agreed on it. Given the maps we use, the only one that it is really useful on is Steel Peel at the elbow and center ring. I have thrown insta strikes there on accident before.

I would say that insta anni strikes are bad though, because those are CLEARLY a glitch that can be avoided 100% of the time.

It's not a glitch, it's a clever use of game mechanics.

Insta anni strike? Pretty confident it's a glitch - regular insta strike is debateable, and I can see both sides of the argument. Bomb does the same thing, it just has a different effect. Hmm, I wonder - can you insta bomb the anni as an assault?

Bomb trail is always supposed to appear above the area being affected by the strike, if it doesn't appear, it's a glitch, no matter how much you enjoy abusing it, it's still cheating, and you're still sad for doing it.

all depends how its being done...
example: scratchy used an insta strike on me when i was tapping the ball on the path by the bot spawn on steel peel in a pm...

It killed me but didn't really stop me from playing or winning the match...

Think most of those things should be left in pubs unless captains rule out free for all glitch fest.

It's a feature because it works for all explosives and is in SMNC as well. Any explosive that touches the kill barrier will instantly detonate.

lol stretch making excuses for your cheating

That means it's inherent to the engine, not that they intended it.

And quite frankly if you can't see insta-strikes coming in a PM then you deserve to die to it anyway..

Whaaaa  Whaaaa  Whaaa

I'm guessing you get caught in THE DANGER ZONEs a lot.

I use it when I need to, in pubs. If I were in a PM and we agreed that it wasn't allowed, no problem. I'd respect the rule, and do my best to keep from doing it out of reflex.

It's a handy tool. One I don't consider a cheat. An exploit, at worst. It gives the Support a much needed long-range attack against classes that are OP anyway.

Because an insta-strike can happen very easily on accident, and it is impossible to prove an accident or not, I can only go with "allowed". It adds a small bit of threat for the support, particularly on Steel Peel. I am not a huge fan of throwing them myself, but that is on me if I choose to not use it.

Spawn strike by any class (including non-lethals, like ice traps in spawn) and insta-anni-strike remain banned though.
