incompatible with this signal....

I recenty bought this game on sale from steam, and everytime i open it, i get a black screen with the message "incompatible with this signal". i've searched the forums and found nothing at all. I've tried multiple resolutions, and that did nothing as well...If it helps, im using an hdtv hooked with hdmi. my pc is able to run it, so thats not the problem(xfx 5830, phenom ii BE 3.4 x4, 4g ram). if anyone can help me get this game open it would be great. hoping i didn't waste 3$....once the message pops up, the only way to close the message is by restarting my pc....

resolutions ive tried:
1280x1024
1280x720
1920x1080
1600x900
1152x648
800x600

i know :x but my thread was already on the 2nd page...so i figured id give it a bump, as no one ever reads stuff past the 1st page(normally)

1. What is the native resolution of your TV?

2. Since you're not able to open the game, I assume you're trying to manually edit config files to set the resolution. Which file(s) are you editing?


The file you need to edit is HostileGraphicsSettings.ini in My Documents/UnrealEngine3/HostileGame/Config/

ResX and ResY should be right at the top, set those to a resolution that you know will work with your TV

I'll keep an eye on this thread to make sure it doesn't get buried without being resolved.

i havent edited any files, but ill try doing that one now...my recommended is 1280x720, and my max is 1920x1080...ill try my recommended and change the file

thanks, that fixed it....i never wouldve thought to change the res in a file....i wish they had a menu screen on startup that you could choose your resolution. kind of like trials 2(dirtbike game)
