Back 2007 when i was looking for the equipment to record my UT3 frag vids in HD
The HD recording equipment didn't exist or was too expensive. Is this different now , can anyone recommend something that records in HD ? I have a more than capable pc and hopefully enough $$ to burn.

If i get this going ill play to my max ability to use these vids to help spread the greatness that is this game.

All the directors on machinima seem to use the Hauppauge HD PVR, it has great quality from what i have seen, but fairly expensive i think

I've read mixed reports on a lot of HD recording stuff, never have been sure about it myself. Between my uncertainty, the pricetags of such things, and the combination of disc space + upload time, I don't think I'd be interested in recording in HD really.

You may have an alternative available to you, actually. Some graphics cards can accept input from USB and other ports, so with the right cables you could *POTENTIALLY* record straight to your hard drive.

However, you can get a decent capture card for a decent price if you look. I have a Dazzle 170 myself, and with it's S-video input almost everything I've recorded is in 480p so for the most part everything is pretty clear and detailed. Couple of examples:

Last I checked, you could find similar capture cards in Best Buy around the video cards for about $40.

I got an EasyCap just last week so I could put some gameplay up as there isn't much that isn't shaky cam.

It's a bitch the set up  Can only get sound right now.

Tip: Make sure you have output ports on your Tv. I swear I had them but I ended up having to buy AV splitters. I only just upgraded to HD when MNC came out but by god I can't read a thing in 4:3.
