@Geers you really need to get a new president into office. one that's all about fixing the internet situation in Australia. of course locally hosted content (such as youtube vids duplicated on the australian server) will load while live content won't.
To inject some Real World™ into your Rage™ (patent pending), you'll actually find a lot of streaming services no longer stream the entire video / song / datastream these days. I can't remember when YouTube changed it, but they have done as well. Basically, to minimise the amount of data stored in the buffer, the player will buffer less, but more often. This also cuts down on potential data corruption (if you've streamed the whole thing at once) because you're streaming it in chunks as necessary. It also, as a minor use case, cuts down on data usage (especially if you have a data cap) because you don't stream an entire video and then lose it by closing the tab. You only lose the data up until the end of the last chunk streamed. As for why it's breaking for you? I blame Australia.
Even though Australia's internet is crap, it's not that bad. And it's not like I live out in the bush. I can watch youtube videos at 1080p quality without having this nonsense happen. I blame Twitch entirely. And Tony Abbott. Look at him. Screw him.
