If PA Crashes ONLY When Using Recording Software

That's the fault of the recording software, right? Not PA?

Because PA runs perfectly the rest of the time. Just becomes entirely unstable if I start recording.

Bandicam, Dxtory and OBS are better than fraps. No frikkin huge files and only small fps drop. Just get the x264 codec and you are set. OBS is also free.

Obviously it's fault of software you use. Most likely it's just don't have proper support for OpenGL games.

I'm think you should contact their support and ask them to fix it.
After all you paid for that.

You can't use obs to record, the quality is atrocious and the files it makes can't be edited in a video editing program.

Maybe lack of RAM?

I have no idea what kind of standards you have, but the quality of OBS in 1080p @ 2500 kbit/s is pretty good. I've used it to stream all PA I streamed so far and people like the image quality of my stream. I didnt try to edit the files, but why would they not be editable? Sounds weird to me. I have uploaded videos from obs to youtube before and youtube had no issues with them. So converting them is not impossible.

I did upload one PA video to it. Considering that PA performance got better and better since then I guess it would just work better than back then. (And it worked since the first moment of alpha anyway, see http://www.twitch.tv/colacolin/profile/pastBroadcasts)

I watched your alpha cast, and didn't see a lot of map movement - plus the game locked up a lot, and there was not a lot of units. I'd really like to see a recent game and know your exact OBS settings.

Right now Fraps is failing to record my mouse and doesn't have a separate audio channel volume controls.. so I'd switch to OBS if it recorded just as well and fixed those problems.

not a lot of map movement? game locked up? what? I dont have the impression that was the general state at any time.
OBS btw also doesnt fully correctly captures the cursor. It gets the cursor, but it doesnt get the correct size, so the cursor looks smaller in the video.
