Quoting someone else's text without adding anything to it shouldn't count as a post. Like, at all. I propose there be a thumbs up, check, like, rating system. Something to that effect.

Just tossing out a suggestion because four people quoting the same post doesn't accomplish much and is unnecessary.

I can see how it doesn't convey meaningful information, but it also doesn't detract from anything as it is now.

When repeatedly quoting the same post multiple times, they get into this 'bandwagon' effect. Its an absence of thought and any sort of opinion.

Exactly my point. It isn't helpful in any way, but I don't see the sense in punishing people for bad humor.

I don't see it much as a punishment (note: I). You simply thumbs up or like the comment, that's it.

Anyway, before this thread gets too off topic with some trivial arguments this is an idea based off of some annoying behavior I've seen repeatedly on the forums.

It'll be like youtube where bad jokes, memes, and puns becomes most liked and it stifles intellectual discussion. Effectively making the forum a popularity contest.

This is only if badly-hashed memes make it onto Uberent. I highly doubt people are that stupid enough to post "like if-" comments.
