Had a couple of matches today where some bot symboled team stackers lost hardcore because they let me sit in the moneyball room the whole time during overtime with and without juice because they were too busy trying to camp the spawn and farm and ignoring our ball entirely.

Just a random thought. What if say on loss of a game if your k/d is greater than one your deaths and kills are flipped. So if you got 40 kills and 0 deaths and you lost it's now 0 kills and 40 deaths. Goes without saying that any protags "earned" like the uber streak are stripped as well.

While I understand survival is important ingame the way these goobers play and prolong the pain of other people bugs the hell out of me and I feel they should be punished somehow.

KDR just needs to be properly accounted for in Star Ratings, which means basing its weight on the class you're playing at the time, as well as looking at where the events took place. Personally, there should be a minor shift in value towards kills/bot kills/etc made in your base when your ball is down (and a small shift away from offensive plays at the time), while the shift would go the other way when the other team's ball is down. In short, get more points for attacking/defending when you should be and fewer for doing either when you (probably) shouldn't. Not enough to make contributions worthless, not by a long shot - but enough to make it more effective for your rating to play where the action is focused.

Nothing brag worthy about it Mr. Taunt/kill ratio. I stood in front of their ball and held mouse one unmolested. I didn't waste the enemy team Xeno style in fact I joined late and died 12 times in short succession from spam.

Edit: I'm not sure the star ratings are the sole motivator here. KDR is considered it's own value. It has to be addressed directly somehow. Ideally I'd rather not have stat tracking at all. Forcing people to grind money so they can make classes that aren't the poo poo defaults is awful design.

Star Ratings are currently the most obvious form of bragging rights (think xBox 360 Gamer Points). While they're pointless, they're important to some people, and as of now they seem to be most heavily influenced by KDR.

As for the whole money thing, I'd say it exists because of the concept of the game and the universe it fits into. "Why fight for honor or duty when you can fight for the real American dream: cash, fame and endorsements?" Doesn't make it a good thing to have in the game, but eh.

KD over 1 gets flipped if you lose....So what if you were really trying to win and were holding just over a 1 KD and lose. You get punished...

    You have mental problems man.

The way I see it, star ratings should be based more on your teamwork than how good you are at killing Pros
Ex: How many assists you have, how much money you spent on bots/turrets, how many times you helped save a teammate from death(by killing the attacking bot/Pro/turret, killing the enemy grappling him, etc), so on and so forth
Maybe even rig up something to calculate time spent as a Support and how much you healed your teammates/bots/turrets

Botkills should definitely be held higher than KDR. It won't matter if you went 100/5 if you let all the enemy bots slip past(I've seen people like this, kill Pros left and right but barely scratch the paint on the enemy bots, guess which team won)

That's not always the case. I've watched plenty of teams lose with that one jackass who ends up going 35-2 and whines about how "bad" the rest of his team is, nevermind his 2 bot kills. Yeah, you're helping hold back the other team with your kills, but if you're not actively preventing bots from reaching your ball, you're partially responsible for the loss. It's not hard to pull back and defend properly. Some classes should have fewer bot kills, but under 10 bots for a full game = fail.

Well there's more than one way to look at it. Those kills are effectively taking out a sixth of the team for 5 seconds, letting other teammates kill bots more easily. *eyeroll*

if they just plain ignore bots all together yes they aren't doing there job correctly but they are still contributing for the team.

What is with the hatred towards people focusing on K/D?

You are participating and you are helping your team by keeping away enemy players from pushing your own bots.

You are supposed to push bots, kill players, destroy objectives and control resources.

Not do one or two things of those.

And yes, focusing on your k/d is in my opinion stupid.

its really dependent on the class, if an assault, gunner or sniper is 40-0 i think he has done his job, but if a tank is 40-0 with less then 10 bot kills, he is doing something wrong but of course people should have a decent amount of bot kills as well, that's what i try to do

Gunner I can somewhat understand but a sniper is a decent bot pusher.
    Assault is rather meh.
