Right now, only land units such as bots or vehicles are able to use teleporters, while naval or air units are incapable of utilising them. This makes the last 2 largely redundant (especially the already underpowered naval units) for games with many planets, except for defence. Here are some ideas to tweak unit type and teleporters: - Let air units remain as they are. Letting air units cross into portals would be too overpowered when 200 tier 2 bombers can instantly be used to patrol and decimate an entire planet. - I agree that in order for Ocean world to serve a tactical function, one possibility that could remain as such is to not let naval units cross portals. However, to get a trade-off between the feasibility of naval units and the tactical advantage of ocean worlds, I suggest this: that we add a new amphibious land unit to either Bot or Vehicle Factories, while adding a hovercraft unit to Naval factories. These 2 units, including Slammers, and cross into portals across planets. - The new amphibious unit should be less powerful than the other land units to preserve the tactical advantage of water worlds. The new hovercraft unit should be relatively more bulky to improve the use of naval factories. - To make the above feasible, make portals capable of being built on water. This will improve the versatility of naval units in late-games, while maintaining the strategic advantage of water worlds, by not letting the more powerful land units to cross. Doing so will make ocean worlds invadable, also allowing them to invade land worlds, albeit with less effectiveness than land invading land worlds. - Also, naval units as they stand right now, are too slow. Even tier 2 naval units are bested easily by tier 2 bombers as they stand, due to their poor mobility and less effective range. There is an easy solution to this: increase the speed of naval units very slightly, by perhaps 66%. Increasing it further may make naval units too overpowered due to their greater land range and damage. - If all else fails, we can always drop Terence Tao of UCLA, a former child prodigy who graduated at 12, a message to see if he can provide a solution using his superior intellect (yes, he plays this game and is a member of the forums; I know who he is :] ... very smart guy with a 200+ IQ ).
teleporters for naval ...... yes .... for air absolutely not ... hovercrafts might be added post release for air orbital carriers might be possible but havent been much talked about from ubers side afaik
teleporters under water, should, obviously, teleport the water if the other teleporter is above ground. this would allow more strategic options such as removing water you dont like on one planet and adding it on your enemies planet to flood thier base. In all seriousness though teleporters for naval would be good. What about moble orbital teleporters? would make the orbital war more interesting...though wouldnt be helping the already intense attention sink that orbital is. maybe after the ui fixes this?
It was explained in Stargate SG1 that water will never get through the portal, because there was some technical stuff that prevented that. In the series there were some stargates which were undewater, like in that episode with the russians messing with the second stargate on Earth; they used a badass submarine to get to the other world, and they went back without flooding everything on their side. Though, Planetary Annihilation is not set in the Stargate universe, sooo....
