I thought it might be cool to be able to select a unit and enable Priority for Resources for that unit meaning that that unit goes to the head of the queue for resources and non-priority units would get the scraps left over. Examples of where this might be useful: - To get a structure built as quick as possible. - To allow a unit drawing power when it shoots to be unhindered. - To allow a radar to continue operation when power runs out.
For a full discussion of this idea see some large subset of this thread: https://forums.uberent.com/threads/planetary-annihilations-economy-system.44173/ My summary of the thread: Zero-K uses this idea. It is great. PA's economy seems to be designed around forcing people to do economic micromanagement. This idea would effectively remove some of the mechanics of the economy. Some people are in favour of this idea. Some people don't understand the idea. Some people don't understand the economy well enough to begin to understand the idea. Some people dislike the idea because they think minute economic micromanagement is a skill that should be rewarded. Some people dislike the idea because they think it would increase the requirements of economic micromanagement. Some people dislike the idea because they don't want extra unit states which are not displayed in the 3D UI. I think neutrino fell into the last two categories. I'd be interested in the dev's latest thoughts on this but don't get your hopes up.
