Idea for Gas Giant base building and fighting

I think it would be cool if there were giant floating platforms that would drift around the planet. They could be something like wreckage or ancient alien platforms that you could build your bases on.

having them drift around the planet randomly and maybe hit each other and bounce off or split apart or merge could add a neat strategy mechanic...maybe you could even try and adjust the direction or something to slam your platform into an enemy base to land ground troops or just merge them all to have your own mega platform

I originally thought of just having giant walking platforms, think Titans from WH40k but gas giants don't have much of a solid core...could work on a smog planet or a water planet

i'm sure this would be difficult on the technical side but giant platforms hurtling around a planet could be pretty cool. I suppose you could have giant platforms floating around any planet but these would be on the "surface" of the gas giant and not orbital.

Personally I had thought of the idea that your buildings would all be build on air balloons, and your engineers and commander would deploy jet packs, all combat would be done via planes, gunships and zeppelins.

Ow how I desire to see Zeppelin fleets fighting.

Hmmm, Zeppelins? They are pretty cool I have to agree, but this is Space age Sci-fi, not Steam-punk :lol:

As long as they fly, you can fill them with whatever space age gas you please!
