Icons and Fog Of War / Radar

    @neutrino in the latest livestream here mentioned about structures becoming out of vision/radar in that they leave a "ghost", but no radar signature, and his conclusion didn't seem to be that this is an issue, however he also didn't seem to understand the question. I'd like to put forward my own view on this and related issues:

    I think I much prefer the idea of seen structures to retain their strategic icon even when not in radar coverage. I believe SupCom did this in that it would present a dimmed icon if radar did not cover the unit. Mobile units however left no ghost or icon which I believe is as it should be. The reason for my desire for icons is that, when sending a scout off on a long path around the planet, it's very difficult to see the fruit of the scout's labor as structure ghosts are too dark and often blend in with the environment. Also from a logical perspective, if you're running a military operation in real life, you'd probably keep as much information on the last know whereabouts of enemy units as possible.

    In a similar vein to the above, another issue I have is that seen units which have left vision but stay in radar coverage lose their strategic icon and revert to an unknown diamond. Again, this is in contrast to what SupCom did, and I think it's information that should be retained.

    Whilst a lot of my ideas draw inspiration or blatantly copy SupCom, one area that game really exceeded was in the interface innovation, and personally I can't see logical or technical reasons why the above aren't 100% steps forward compared to the current interface. I know interface improvement is on Uber's roadmap, but given @neutrino's comment on the livestream I thought a debate on this topic would be useful.
