    Planetary Annihilation doesn't have an icon, bug or not?

    It does. Check the media directory of PA. If you use the .tar.bz2 you need to set it manually.

    I wouldn't be able to tell you, since I don't use Steam. I haven't heard any complaints about it before though. I was hoping somebody with Steam on Linux would post here.

    I suppose you could just try a virtual machine with a 14.04 Ubuntu and install Steam there to see if you get the same behaviour. Those machines are easy to set up with VirtualBox for example.

    Does your launcher display icons?

    I should note that planetary annihilation doesn't have a icon in the launcher. Does the. Desktop file also decide what icon is being used in the launcher?

    Maybe I'm confused. Are we talking about the PA launcher I wrote? When using the .deb to install that, it should create a PA launcher icon in Ubuntu. And yeah, the .desktop file is the only place that icons are ever defined. There should be an "Icon=..." in that file pointing to the icon.

    I was talking about steam the whole time. I prefer my games in one place.
    So the thing is the steam icon file is in the icon =for the pa desktop file. So in the unity dash, PA has a steam icon. But in the launcher, it is a square with a question mark. Don't know why, don't know how. Linux is confusing. :(

    I had something similiar to this using Ubuntu Vivid Vervet. The icon of the PA launcher on the desktop and the launcher in the dash was the Steam logo.

    To change that I edited 2 launcher files which were located at:

    /home/USER/Desktop/Planetary Annihilation.desktop
    /home/USER/.local/share/applications/Planetary Annihilation.desktop

    I opened up Terminal, went to the directories, and typed:

    gedit Planetary Annihilation.desktop

    In each file was a line with "Icon=steam" which I changed to the path of the PA icon file:

    Icon=/home/USER/.steam/steam/steamapps/common/Planetary Annihilation/media/icon_sdl.png

    And now the PA icon is displayed.
