Making this a new thread as there is no poll and everyone else is asking for hats and stuff I think maps would be most welcome in the first dlc update, the game already has 6 great classes and the current maps are still fun if you approach each one in a different way, it would also keep the game feeling fresh instead of playing ammo mule and grenade III too often. I don't want to sound cheap here but I also hope they are free, once you stick a pay pack up you are going to slice the community in half between those who want to play new maps and those who do not want to pay, since most arcade games lose a huge chunk of their online players after only a month or two splitting up the players would just make things worse. I have no idea how you could get around that problem.
I agree. New maps would be great in a month or so. It would keep people interested in the game as the holiday season starts and bigger games begin releasing. However, you are very correct that map packs tend to split up the community. With Uber being a smaller indie company, I don't know if they could afford to pay MS for distribution of DLC without charging any money for new maps. With that being said, I have no doubt that they will figure something out that will keep the community happy. They have done a great job so far and I don't expect that to change anytime soon!
Well the maps either bring in a lot of people or get steam rolled over by Halo: Reach and the like in a month or so. :cry: Still, you get the people without those games and only arcade games.
I don't see how Halo comes into this. Halo and MNC are very different in style and I think even when it has come out there will still be a steady flow of players on MNC IF we get more maps. I'm not asking for complicated maps I think the ones there are are good but I also like to sit down and play for long periods of time but with the same maps appearing again and again, it becomes stale. Yes I can lay as different classes and I can approach the match differently but we need some map variety. It is unfortunate that this game has only been out less than a week as new DLC will be some way off and people may not hang around for diversity.
I think to cover costs and things they should charge a little (like 200 MSP) for a map pack if it cost that most of the current players would buy it, so the MNC community would not suffer, and it would improve the game.
While we're on the subject of new maps, if there are going to be any it would be cool if they had some features that were different from the current maps. For instance, all of the maps have middle ground and high ground, but what if there was one where you could also go underneath?
I agree that another floor on a new map would be great. It changes the game when you have a roof over your head, and it would be nice if it wasn't just a hallway.
