http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=saKrTcH3wO0 I really, really do. Look at the explosions! It's amazing how many things are different regarding the sounds and graphics along with the UI and an animation for when you're scrolling through which turret you wanna put up! Wow.
$99,999 for the snipers skill name here  oh yea and the description says allows you to fly longer and faster
That version is not very different from what we shipped. What you're impressed with is the fast paced editing of the clips.
What I found out from that video and the Dev Walkthrough 1 video is this: Eka isn't a very smart Assassin...
Dev Walkthrough 1 was AZO playing my account since I was talking in the audio room. The character montage I take credit for sucky Assassin. When we capture for footage we try to show off grapples and special moves for each character and that also means being an easy target for someone. It's called the magic of editing.
pfffft! Nice save. I thought the audio was dubbed in afterwards. Magic you say? I'll show you magic! :ugeek:
You guys think that in the "Sniper Scouting Report" that the Gunner didn't see the ice trap placed 10 feet in front of him and was completely oblivious to the SMG Sniper 20 feet away? Or that Support in the Flak Field didn't feel like running out of the way and heal the turret? On that subject, was there going to be a Sniper response to laying traps that was scrapped?
Since we are on about Audio I do have a small question. You were talking about when recording more "MC" lines his ad lib had you cracking up. What does the Uber studio actually have in house? Like do you have a small recording booth? This is where the Audio nerd comes out in me but what DAW do you use if any?
Can't say I was "impressed", I just wanted to play it. It showed off cool little quirks we don't have in the public release. Oh and I want those full explosions shown in the Pax footage, frame rate be damned!
Those explosions had a number of issues beyond just frame rate. For Crossfire it wasn't too bad, it was mainly for Blitz since the number of effects and fodder dying at once tends to be higher. I had to turn down the explosions (as well as a lot of other effects) to try to keep things playable, but also to prevent some peculiar graphics glitches we didn't have time to debug and fix. There were also some things we did to try to keep a teen rating on the game. They may not have been necessary, but we riped out a lot of effects near the end to absolutely ensure we didn't delay the game by having to resubmit to the ESRB. The fodder death explosions were one of these effects.
When we do VO sessions, it's at a nearby recording studio. We have a small audio room but not completely soundproof.
ESRB has always seemed a bit strange. I still can't believe Halo is rated "Mature". There really isn't anything all that bad in there. Games like Gears of War need to be rated "Mature". I still can't believe MNC is even rated "Teen".
Interesting stuff! Thanks for the insight; I love "behind the scenes" info. Any more you have, please, share some more!
