I made this scene with UDK.

    This is my first thing I've made with the UDK. Not impressive by any stretch, but I did learn some of the basics. Still, the shadows didn't come out the way I had hoped when I built it.

    Looks cool. Add couple of yellow omni lights around each of the torches to simulate the light coming off of them.

    Well, I wasn't quite sure what you meant by Omni lights, but I used Point Lights around the torches.

    Mucho improved. The light and water on the surface really hold your interest. Not that the first scene was bad, mind you.

    Yes omni lights/point lights, same thing. Looking good. Now add some tertiary details to ground the trees to the ground cover like fallen leaves, bushes, or rocks. That'll help blend the trees and landscape more naturally. Also, add a sword in the pond in the distance or some other object which leads the viewers eye through your composition.

    right when i looked at the 2nd picture the shadows seemed kinda off cause the torchs were supposed to alter that sorta but i dont know that might just be me. :|
