I find myself fully upgrading my Gunner's grapple more and more these days. Not because it does fantastic damage, or because it's incredibly useful(although it is useful against juicers) but simply because when I kill someone with it, they realize that I spent an assload of money for the sole purpose of humiliation. And it inspires messages like the one I got yesterday which essentially consisted of 'WTF stop hacking the sniper grapple onto your gunner, they don't have a grapple fkin noob cheater.' I smiled. Getting killed by a gunner grapple pisses people off almost as much as a melee kill.
When I'm not a support, I play as a gunner. I have never used the grapple! :lol: When pros get close I always use his slam... You think the slam or the grapple is more usefull on a juiced pro?
Grapple is infinitely better. A juiced pro can still shoot you and your teammates/turrets when stunned by slam, when you grapple them, they can do nothing but rage. You see a juiced pro in your base that you can get close to (aside from a support. That shotgun hurts.) switch to mortar, and do your best to use both of your grapples. If you hit both of them, it will waste every bit of their juice. EDIT: Also, the Grapple is great when you're reloading or your slam is down. It can really get you a couple more crucial seconds, and sometimes it will completely disorient/confuse an opponent.
Gold Speed. Silver armor. Bronze health regen. 1100 MNC bux. Get level 3 passive/grapple. Proceed to chase people around the map, no matter if they kill you or not. Hard to be sneaky as the largest character model in the game, but baseball swings are awesome with the giant club the Gunner wields.
I got my first 2 ever LVL3 gunner grapple kills last night! I never upgrade it to 3 but I thought what the hell, and it saved me multiple times! I've never even saw the homerun animation with him before! I'll be using this a little more now, it's nice to have another 'get out of trouble free' button, and they never expect it.... The first kill was on Lazerazor, on the upper left platform where the new jumpad is. There was a tank and an assault both there, I grappled the tank and sent him out over center field and the assault just stood there and looked at me like 'WTF??" and I had time to gun him down too ... They totally didn't expect it :mrgreen: I think I had a whole 3 gunner grapple kills before this, and they would have only been lvl 2 at most
Also, if you use the Mortar Grapple, you turn the enemy Pro into crab fat, which can be used as the base for a nourishing stew. Or you can dip your churro in it - hiyo!
That's the best part, when you actually surprise people with it! No one expects it. I've killed 3 people because of the other two just watching their teammate fly away. Gotta admit i've never actually made a specialized grappling class, but now I shall.
The only problem with the gunner's grapple is that you're a large target standing still for too long. It's good for single people that are isolated, but it's not very good for an aggressive gunner pushing a base or slaying.
This is true if you're playing to win or stomp people. No one upgrades a Gunner's grapple to level 3 if they aren't just playing around. Unless they just started playing. Also me and a friend just had a good time Skeet shooting. I hurled a tank into the air and he made him go bye-bye. That was fun.
