Don't worry we'll be delivered our monthly dose of AWESOME very soon, so we can be kept alive and sane before the release of the Alpha xD

It was my secret guess that In-Engine stuff was going to be about ready to show. I hope the Q&A will be a little more productive this time...

*Remembers poor Jon having to reiterate the same thing over and over.*

    I think I'd go nuts.

To be clear, there will be no alpha announcement, but this will be the first game client demo we've shown. Not the planet test, or nav test or any of the other test apps we've shown in the past.

So this will be rough game play of PA?

Sorry I am a bit confused here.

maybe not even actual game play.

It may just be units standing around in the actual game engine. it may just be the camera flying around planets in the actual game engine.

key point, this is the first time we see ANYTHING from inside the actual game engine.

    *hops around excited*

This appears to be merely a glimpse at a 'First Playable' client.

Meaning they had several different developers over the last x number of months all working on a certain piece of the game on other software or a custom piece of software. Think to last livestream with the flow field debugging program they were showing. That was completely independent of the game client we will be using to play PA.

They have now been able to get everyone's work all in one place where they can at least perform the absolute basic actions of PA (design a system, procedurally create said system, start a game in said system, build units while playing a game in said system)

Maybe, I'm speculating a little bit since there's no way to know how much they have aggregated until Friday, but it seems likely based on a '15 minute demo' that it will be a 'playable' that we will be shown.

Is 15 min really enough time to demo this? I wonder what they will show. This announcement is both exciting and irritating at the same time!

They probably plan out every second of what they are showing, so doing 15 minutes is a lot of work.
