So my idea, that im sure youhave already thought of is.... Tech 3 Mechs were talking about like the first promo video on kickstarter. They ended up being commanders but how about making tech3 mechs that can be deployed via asterus to other planets. On the same lines how about a mother ship like independence day that can hold 10 of them and they drop down from them when you send it to another planet. Thing is you can currently go to 10 other planets throw asteroids at each other but as far as invading goes there are limited options, it would be fing amazing if you could start throwing mother ship after mothership full of tech 3 mechs at your friends base on another planet. Just a thought. Thank You for making the best RTS i have played in a long long time.
There were tons of suggestions along those lines already. Multiple unit transports seem to be a big thing in the community. They just seem a bit hard to program. And we don't know about a T3, because it hasn't been confirmed, nor denyed yet. But there isn't anything hinting at T3, yet.
I would like to point out that there are no "tiers" in PA. There are basic units and advanced units. Allmost the same thing sure, but the "advanced units" arent supposed to be more powerfull then "basic units", just specialised (Being able to do special things like a amphibious tank or be for a specific task like a siege breaker). However, currently "advanced units" are kinda better versions of "basic units" at least atm, but hey it beta and the units are hopefully nowhere done yet.
i would like to point out that regardless of what you, or uber, want to call it, they are equivalent to tiers in other games. The only way they can remove this name is by making the T1 factories be able to build everything, and then remove all other factories.
Tier = Prerequisite This game already has commander, basic, advanced, orbital. 4 levels already. Will probably continue to grow.
That's not true. They have confirmed there won't be a "tech 3" in PA. Just basic and advanced. Some people label orbital as "tech 3" though.
Btw, what's that? Which game is that from? (probably TA?) I played TA when I was like 10 years old, so I don't know anymore.
This sounds like the obligatory there are no tiers response, when there are quite obviously tiers just balanced in a way that does not make units repeat with stronger forms and instead introduces more specific attacking units in later tiers. That being said, there are already super weapons in the game, they kind of mimic considering there are regular missiles and there are nuclear ones. For the most part though, walking cities with tons of guns, like transformers metroplex, is looked down upon. I wouldn't mind keeping the roles sheerly diverse, with the later tiers being special types of use and support roles. That way, we get to use that massive tier 1 factory chain and the field full of t1 units even late game. All t2 will ever do is at our discretion of which t2 units we want will dot the armies so you can do frontline combat the same while having sniper units or repair units or hit and run units or salvo units.
"Tiers" is a layer or ranking or classification-group in any real or imagined hierarchy. If the advanced units arent supposed to be more powerfull then basic units then they arent in a higher tier (They would be in a parallell tier if you do use the tier system), therefore it shouldent be refeared to as a tier system. However as said earlier, currently the advanced units are kinda better versions of the basic units, so currently the tier analogy is correct. But its said that it wont be later, so it might be wise to not use the term everywhere.
As other have said, they don't want to include 'experimental' at this stage (as SupCom2 was ruined by them). I'd also point out that TA didn't include them until the 'Core Contingency' add-on and Uber have said they intend to expand PA so they could come at a later date. However there are going to be far more advanced options for invading. Currently it is very difficult to take a planet once its been occupied and the controlling player has orbital fighters. In that situation your only option is to launch an asteroid at it as things stand. Multi unit transports to bring large forces to the surface makes sense to me- although they will need to be resistant to orbital fighters or you still have the same problem. 2 things that aren't in the game yet but *should* be coming that address this: 1: The unit cannon- take the moon, build units on the moon, fire them down to the planet. 2: The ability to move asteroids / moons into orbit of other bodies rather than smashing into them (therefore making the unit cannon more important) 3: *unconfirmed but hinted at* possible planet to planet cannons, which would add to the potency of building a safe base on a moon, then flying it into orbit around a hostile planet and bombarding them
on the PA beta Discussion, near the top of the page there is a message saying to refrain from suggestions. and that this wasn't a suggestion forum page. along with other stuff they forgot to edit from alpha.
Arguing about "tiers" vs "basic/advanced" is a waste of forum space and is purely semantics. Please stop derailing every thread that mentions one or the other with your semantic arguments. This isn't @ any one person in particular. @OP Please do not post in all caps. Also, since you seem to know that this idea has already been discussed, why not search the forums and post in that thread instead? Please don't take this post the wrong way, but there have been a lot of duplicate posts/derailed discussions that could be avoided and it would make the forums more enjoyable to read.
