I just completed a game on Steel Peel as a Sin. I was facing a mostly competent team, with the exception of one nub who placed Longshots on all their turret nubs. It was a fairly even fight, surprisingly, but I kept up my job of killing bots and the random pro who was causing trouble, and my team made steady, but slow, progress. Then, RL hit and I had to afk for 2 minutes, since we pushed back the bots quite far, I had assumed that we would be fine. However, when i got back, I found that the other team was having their way with our moneyball. I was rather furious, but managed to avoid cussing out my own team for their incompetence long enough to get juice and attempt to break the camp. Sadly, however, I couldn't do it all as my team already let them set up camp. End score, 14 Kills, 4 Deaths, a crapton of bot kills (100+). $5000+ earned, and the next guy up on my team only earned about $2000. Needless to say, this match left a bitter taste in my mouth, despite the monies earned, mainly because of such incompetence. So, yeah. Just a random tidbit here I felt like ranting a little about. Flame Shield [ON] OFF
I've felt the same way. What was really annoying is on a game of laser razor my team had 3 assassins and between them they had ~30 bot kills. I had to waste my time killing bots and dodging pros because they couldn't land a kill either. It also seems pretty impossible for even the best players to carry a completely incompetent team, except for maybe on grenade.
I don't mind losing so much as losing BADLY. There is one thing that irks me though. I main assault, who next to support is the worst botkiller (he isn't bad by any means I'm merely saying other classes are simply better at it, he is more than proficient.) When I have not only more bot kills, but SIGNIFICANTLY more bot kills than the tank or assassin(s) (usually if there is a tank there is only one, but often there is 2+ assassins) on my team. I get irked. I don't mind so much when I have more bot kills than our gunner or our sniper (though I hate when I see a sniper with like 10-15pro kills and 3 bot kills.) but there is no excuse for me to have 2x as many bot kills as a tank or assassin. None. Even if I'm a better player than them they should be at least CLOSE to my bot kills given that is their main strength. That and when you are the only person on your team even trying to control the annihilator when you see teammates who you KNOW have enough to use it just run past it over and over until you either finally have enough money to use it yourself or the enemy team snags it.
Did you ever hear the story "The Turtle and the Rabbit run a Race"? In this case... You're the rabbit and you lost. Simple as that. You can only trust your team to do their job if you do yours, and not doing yours does not help your teams situation. Everything can be changed in a matter of 5 seconds in this fast paced game, suddenly a turret goes down in 1, in 3 the annihilator is taken, and in 5 the bots are within your turrets firing range and are slowly slipping past. Going AFK in the middle of a round is irresponsible and gives you no right to bash your team if you weren't even present... I fail to feel sorry for this brag threads OP.
No, you can't trust anybody in pubs. Especially not after the free weekend. Player level is very low atm.
Going afk in the middle of a game is not really "doing your job". Especially if your team is struggling to make progress and relying on you to pull your weight. You can't really blame a team for ending up in a losing position when they're fighting 5 v 6 for a while, but you can blame the guy who wasn't fighting. As for ranting about pubs: Chill out. It's just a pub. Play hard but remember it's just a game and those pubbers (as I myself am) are just out to have a few fun games. Use the random team feature and mix it up every round and you'll have the occasional game where you're stomped and the occasional game where you're stomping and most games will be roughly equal. If you run into team stacking and aren't having fun: switch servers.
Part of the reason I made this post wasn't just a rant, but at my surprise at carrying the team. Quite frankly, I never thought of myself as particularly skilled in this game, maybe slightly above par, but definitely not to the point to where an entire match could be decided by me.
how about dont get mad because its just a game? who cares really if you lost cause you went afk, it's a game, and it will restart and a few seconds afterwards, so just forget about and play the next round. MONDAY NIGHT COMBAT IS CEREAL BSNS GUIS!
True words, but I'd rather people quit if they're going afk for a while. Part of the fun I get is fighting to the end with 2 closely matched teams and in that situation everybody (and every body) counts. So if you want to go off and make a sammich or something then quit and let someone else take your place. Best games are the ones that end right at the end of overtime where one team has a sliver of green left on their ball and they've just managed to knock the other team out. In my opinion ofc
not sure if you remember me but I was on that other team on Steel Peel, playing sin as well and i was having fun at the closeness of the match. but like everyone said its only a game and teams get scrambled from time to time. just have fun and relax its only a game
