I fail at every class except Gunner.

I find this strange, because the Gunner is the only class that's up for serious discussion as being UP. Yet, I top the scoreboards almost every time I play with him, and fail with every other class.

I'm the biggest fail-'sin you've ever seen. I can barely maintain as a sniper, but only because it's easier than in TF2. I don't feel useful as assault. Tank is right out.

Yet, I own face as Gunner. What skillset am I so good at that turns this usually-underappreciated class into such a beast when I'm playing it? I'm honestly curious.

Also, hi! I've seen a few of you forumgoers in-game, and you folks are quite good.

You're probably better at managing the environment around you than aiming, or acting swiftly. The tank also has limited range, whilst the Gunner does not.

The Tank has a railgun, your argument is invalid.

This, probably. I'm the same way. The last MP shooter I played extensively was Enemy Territory: Quake Wars, and I was a Wolfenstein vet before that. I've always been pretty average with basic assault rifles and the like, especially struggling up close (particularly in Wolfenstein) due to my high mouse sensitivity. I've reacted by developing a taste for heavy weapons. :?

I got good with the shotgun before it received its Death Nerf in ETQW, but I've never been reliably good with weapons like MNC or ETQW's assault or sniper rifles.

That's probably it, now that you mention it. My aiming is mediocre at best (hence my ineptitude as sniper), and I'm not awfully twitchy, but I'm fairly good at top-level awareness from playing strategy games and such. I also tend to main the mortar by preference, which helps reduce the mobility weakness of the gunner.

I play on high sensitivity, too. I have a big mousepad, but I can't stand having to move my mouse large spans in order to spin and such.

Hardly. No class is actually OP or UP.

Gunner's minigun wrecks anything at mid to close range, has a phenomenal long range suppression weapon with which he can lay waste to a whole area, destroying players, bots and turrets alike. He has a large range 360 degree high damage and high knockback attack, he has one of the most powerful and longest tossing throws in the game.

Thus the saying that's been going around lately, in the right hands, every class is OP.

That said, not everyone can play every class, and certain people adapt to some styles better than others. Maybe you're just a Gunner type of guy.

Well, I think it's a good thing you're at least a pioneer at the gunner class! I tried it today and gunners are indeed awesome to play... I love that minigun. :)

You need to aim with the railgun.

Which would be very important if the targets were small (they're not) or you had to aim at small targets like headshots (you do not).

Yes, the railgun doesn't have AoE. As compensation, it's hitscan. Fair trade off.
