Hows about that new dashboard update?

I'm pretty sure the menus are giving me cornea damage.

Ya I'm not looking forward to playing it at night, which is basically the only time I play.... It looks a little bright...

Yea, I had it for about a month now and I can say I think the new look of it. The other additions are kind of bad. Good ideas but bad execution.

Am I the only one who thinks the mic audio "fix" made it sound worse? When someone talks now, it sounds like two of them are talking at the same time in different pitches. Im not exactly a fan. Maybe it takes getting used to?

I don't like how it's sort of fake futuristic. And everyone sounds like a robot.

I honestly didn't even notice the mic thing. What I did notice is that I haven't successfully joined a party yet.

I was hoping that they put an option to use the previous dashboard if you don't have Kinect but they didn't do that.

It goes well with the new terrible Xbox.com update though, Xbox has a ugly unprofessional look about it now.

And it will probably damage my TV as well as my eyes if I stay in the menus too long. (Maybe their goal was to get you into the games faster)

I've been having problems with some very random things. Earlier today I was trying to clean up my friends list, and when I would remove someone about 50% of the time it freeze up for about 30 seconds that then give me a message along the lines of "An error occured while trying to process your request, please visit xbox.com/support for more information".

Definitely like the new Netflix so far though, the search feature was long overdue.

It's a pathetic attempt for Microsoft to get more of your money. If you have not yet noticed all accounts that are gold can no longer just step down to a silver account. The current gold accounts are set to auto renew (that cannot be turned off as of right now except by calling the Microsoft support staff) with the current credit card. If you are not using a credit card to pay for your account and instead using 12/3/1 month cards from stores the account will be temporary suspended until "outstanding fines" are paid. I truely hope none of you fall victim to this.

Oh and yea I don't like the way the new dash board looks.

I've been lagging like hell in both voice chat and in game since the update. Maybe a coincidence, but Voice Chat is awful for me now.

New gashboard is pretty poor IMO. Didnt need to be done. I legit got a headache after 15 mins of FL browsing/messaging. I mean its only a dash so realy it shouldnt matter too much, but it looks so sh*t its pretty offensive!

And now in party chat everyone sounds like they are talking from inside a tin can....allthough maybe they are..... :?

i can confirm they do this. dont let them do this. and i hope their phone lines flood to hell and they get sued cuz someone couldnt get through to their line because of this. would teach them something, hu?

it mentions the automatically-set-to-renew part in the "contract" you accept after updating. adds a lot of new terms, including "unauthorized repairs are no-no's" stuff. and i know from past experience with a friend, that even though it says it in the contract that it will expire if you dont have a card to autopay with, that they will try to renew your account anyway if you dont have a pending method of payment and then will suspend your account until you pay for the unauthorized renewal with a credit card (and then they hassle you to make it near impossible to remove that payment option, giving them even more power to autorenew off that credit card).

they will say a membership-code will not work, you need a card (isnt it convinent they cant accept a 1-time method of payment, but instead wants something they can keep to charge you time and time again thru?)

they will effectively hold your account hostage, and you cant use anything but a credit card that they will try to keep the info on to pay the randsom, if your not careful of ^this

pluz i think the dashboard is horrible BECAUSE it was only a means to make you agree to another contract with additional terms that cover what the last one didnt, giving them additional god powers like the assassin-cloak-grapple lmao.

it makes them money in a underhanded way, and gives them higher ground if they try to take you to court for modding your "authorized device" (xbox), even if you didnt bootleg anything but used it to back-up stuff or add features they didnt make on their xbox.

they just threw something together for the release of the kinect, and made additional terms so you cant jtag your xbox ("authorized device"). technically according to their contract, a xbox jtagged before accepting that contract isnt breaking any rules.

I believe he tried to remove his credit card info from his account instead of calling Xbox and telling them not to renew his gold (Resulting in a suspension)

If you buy Xbox live online, automatic renew will turn on. Just call Xbox and tell them to turn it off.

If you use a pre paid card and have a credit card on your profile there is a chance that automatic renew might get turned on by mistake. Just check your profile to make sure when ever you renew and you will be fine.

Everybody just needs to check if automatic renewal is on if their gold is about to expire, You can check on your Xbox or on Xbox.com.(If you don't want Xbox live anymore and are worried about that is)

Ugh new dashboard update fails hard. It's like a step backward visually. And seeing as how I won't use the ESPN and extra features, I feel conned into paying them more money for my XBL membership. Good thing I stocked up on 1 yr memberships before the price hike. Credit card renewal is a total ripoff vs buying the membership cards.

My eyeballs burn with all the white they added to the blades. But this was done so it would be compatible with their Kinect accessory. Which IMO is going to fail. Dang Microsoft... can't leave well enough alone. :evil:

I don't mind it. Plus, ESPN! Lots and lots of ESPN. I'm in heaven.

I like the update for the most part. Moving around is much more fluid and waiting for screen updates is basically nill. The way that looking @ game info/video info/etc screens now works is much, much, nicer. The only part I do not like (apart from the insane way that you have to manage auto-renewal now) is the White colors on the blades. They did that because they were thinking of family and daily use etc. It's friendlier and smooth looking to a new user.. but to average users, who often game at night.. its death to the eyeballs. If they would add the option to customize your blades colors, I'd have no problem with it. The account management stuff is BS and they'd better fix it. One other thing that also gets on my nerves is that they moved Quick Launch to a secondary tab. How the hell is it quick launch when you have to navigate into another layer? Before it required all of 3 buttons (Guide button, Down, A). How some of this stuff got past Beta testing is beyond me. Beta testers fail. They should've bit_hed more.

I'd imagine the icky colors and all the other bad things associated with the dashboard update are a result of MS executives thinking "oh hey, we should be pimping our products to people that already own them by blinding them with the colors!" Y'know, and other things only a 100% non-pragmatic idiot in a corner office would come up with.
