Note hacking an enemy turret can be benefical to the team but for some reason there is no financial reward. Also note hacking an enemy turret is very difficult and nothing will guarantee a successful hack. Also note enemy fire bases cannot be hacked. Also note hacked enemy Laser Blazers will spend most of their time shoting the bots and not enemy pros. So they are not a complete juice box in the enemy base. Still not recommended against good people Cooperative Tactics: (difficulty is a relative scale) Juice Distraction (easy) Juiced player goes in and kills people and takes fire. Support follows juiced player and hacks a turret. Note the turret will target the first thing in range and will continue to target that player until he is out of range. Also note some classes are better than others at being a distraction more lethal to enemy pros the better. Why it works. The juiced player has beastly health and a death stick for a weapon plus the bright lights covering his/her body draw far more attention then the support standing still next to a turret. Regular Distraction (medium) Other players or bots draw all the attention while the support goes and hacks a turret. Note your distractions may not live for very long. Also note Assault bomb, Sniper flak/ice traps, and support air strike can do a great job of preventing/discouraging people from trying to cancel your hack. Also note Tank product and Assassin Smoke bomb will blind the turret for a second or two so if the turret starts shoting the Support. Blind the turret to increase his chances. Multiple Supports (medium/hard) Support A hacks turret while Support B heals him. Note The only real protection from other pros Support B can provide Support A beyond healing is air strikes. Also note if Support B tries to defend Support A in other ways the turret may kill Support A. Also note the more Supports involved the higher level of turret that can be hacked. Also note the bright heal beam is likely to draw attention (be careful). Also not if Support A juices and is being healed he can hack any one turret in the game. Solo methods: Note you have no body to protect you while you hack. Juice (medium/hard) Juice up then hack. Note you have lights all over your body you will likely draw attention to yourself. Bot Distraction Use the bots as a distraction (medium/hard) Note bots draw attention but they will likely be the focus of the enemy for a few seconds so you have a chance. Fire Base (hard) Level 3 fire base can heal as soon as it hits the ground or use it to take the first few shots from the turret either way it can be helpful. Note the turret has a decent chance of killing you. Solo (uber unless it's a level one laser blazer) Hack a turret without any tricks up your sleeve. Note the turret will more than likely kill you. Additional Methods (thanks mainly due to comments) "Upgrade Hacking" (easy-hard) Hack the turret while it is upgrading since turrets cannot attack while upgrading. Note a player is required to upgrade a turret and he is more than likely still close by. Also note a turret while it is upgrading is a much bigger object making it much easier to hide behind. "Ice Hacking" (easy) Hack a Shaved Ice turret. Note Shaved Ice turrets do not attack making them easy to hack. Also note hacking an enemy Shaved Ice while your team has a presence in or close to their base is nearly a game over. people with limited mobility are easy targets.
You should know that many players will upgrade a turret and walk away. That is a prime time to go steal it, as you can hack through the upgrade "shroud". An upgrade to Lvl 3 on a rocket is plenty of time to steal it without it shooting at you. No juice required.
Absolutely! I almost never destroy them in hopes that i can steal them after there are no other turrets.
I couldn't believe when Futtbuck told me he'd never thought to hack a shaveice. I've won some pub games while playing solo just because I did it. It's hilarious to watch their bots spawn and immediately be slowed. I wish that you could still hack enemy turrets at level two though...
Good guide. Some things aren't "guranteed" though, hacking a turret when an enemy knows about it isn't usually guranteed. Any attack with "knockback" stops a hack in progress. Charge, bomb, grapple, lunge (I think), all stop a hack because they affect the target physically (not just their health).
