I know the devs have mentioned "up to 40" planets in use, but I wasn't sure how exactly this pertained to gameplay. Are all of these planets playable in real time? Or only one planet per battle, with multiple battles/planets advancing a "40 planet" galactic campaign?

In other words, will a single battle involve several planets of the size that we have seen in the footage so far (or larger), where we can travel to each as we wish? Or will interplanetary travel be restricted to the smaller moons and asteroids, the battle being focused around the single planet?

Hope this made sense, and sorry if this has been asked in some form before.

Yes, real time. Solar systems (a star, the planets, moons, and asteroids) are done in real time. Everything counts as something to play on (with the exception of the star). Travel between things in systems will be done mostly by rockets, and the unit cannon seen in the video.

And yes, this has been asked before.

They said up to 40 players, not planets. Largest maps are expected to be about 10 planets + some moons and asteroids. Yes, all in real time.

Ah, that's right, I was misremembering. Regardless, that answers my question, sorry for the redundancy.
