How do you set up patrols?

I keep getting my right and left mouse button clicks messed up. So if I want an orbital unit or ground unit to patrol all around the planet endlessly, what is the series of mouse clicks I'd have to do to accomplish that? Like if I setup 6 waypoints?

There are 2 things :

1. Area Patrol
2. Waypoint Patrol

Either use the Patrol button of the UI (right side bar) or keyboard shortcut, and :

1. Click and hold/drag to draw a circle
2. Click while using Shift to place any waypoint you need
