I think a great addition would be to give each class their own unique turret. They could costs a lot of money (for example $1000) but cannot be upgraded (so no one else can 'steal' it). You could have an invisible turret for the Assassin, very rapid firing for the Gunner, a massive range very accurate but slow firing for Sniper etc etc.
Yeah the basics are there and this would also (theroetically) introduce people more into building turrets. I hate it when I build a turret, upgrade to level 2 then come back later to find someone else has stolen my turret by upgrading further!
This might run into the same problem as the bought spawning though, where one class spawns a great bot and another class spawns a crappy one. For example, any support with a little extra cash can do some damage by dropping a few long shots and helping them down the lane. On the opposite end of the spectrum, a sniper who spawns (whatever those things are called) is practically throwing money into his opponents coffers.
If the game designers could work out a unique turret without making some more powerful then this idea would work.
Yes, I definitely like this idea. And I agree, I absolutely hate when people wait for level 2 turrets then go upgrade them and keep them. That annoys me beyond belief. But yeah, individual turrets would be awesome. It would encourage more people to build stuff that would actually help the team out
jezus, those scramblers are such a waste of money. lol, id love to see the snipers face when he first spawned those things. he sees a gunner spawn a big tough bouncer, and what does he get? a bot that looks like a pokemon
Not a bad idea at all, but $1000 seems ridiculous, given that the next most expensive turret is $200. $200 - $250 seems like it would be fine, as long as they keep them about as powerful/useful as the rocket turret. Also, I don't see the problem with letting other upgrade them.
$1000 was only a suggestion and that would be for an instant level 3 turret. A level 3 rocket turret totals $1400 I think so $1000 is not that much for a l3. I do see a massive flaw in my instant l3 idea as everyone would end up trying to save their money and not building other turrets. So maybe making it $300 for a level 1 and then let others upgrade it is probably better. However for me just the I would love a unique turret for each class.
I don't think you understand how this works. MNC is a team game at its core and no one can 'steal' a turret that you build. If you build a turret on a nub then you will always get 25 for a kill. If someone else upgrades the turret then you get 25 for every kill and they get 15 for an assist (just like if the Support hacks a turret someone else built). If it was only up to the original builder to upgrade turrets they would have no money, or there would just be a bunch of lvl1 LB turrets everywhere.
This sounds great! -Assault turret could be med-armor, med-damage, and cause knock back. -Tank turret could be extra heavy-armor (more than RockIt), light damage, and set enemies on fire. -Sniper turret could be light-armor, heavy-damage, and maybe occasionally freeze enemies -Support turret could be med-armor, med-damage, and.... heal..... can't think of anything that's not basically a firebase, lol. -Gunner turret could be heavy armor, lightish damage with high RoF, but be slow to turn towards targets. -Assassin turret could be light armor, med-damage, and cloak friendlies (pros, bots, AND turrets, but not itself to make it more balanced)
I thought it was the other way around. The one who last upgraded it gets the kill and the others a assist...
Also like this idea. To build on Vinticus' ideas; It could be that it uses a grenade-like weapon, and it causes small knockback. could be good at crowd control. I like that idea, but think it should be like a short-range (like shaveice) turret that spouts fire in any direction that hurts enemies over time, so it's best used in front (or possibly in close if the ball is being rushed) I like this too, could be long-range as well, could really be an anti-pro turret. I think the support turret should heal nearby pros while hurting enemies in a short radius and healing itself. Basically a turret with several hurt/heal guns. I think the gunner's turret should just be a dual-minigun turret. Just a baadass powerful turret so gunners are encouraged to help with turrets. That would be neat. Lots of ambush ideas.
Oh yeah I typed out all those specialties and forgot to say what they might look like, lol. -I was thinking a grenade launcher turret for assault. -Flamethrower/jet turret, but now I like the shave ice-esque flame spewer better. -Sniper turret... not sure really either a big rifle cannon or something similar to the longshot -No idea what support turret could look like! -Gunner turret would be a big gatling gun. -Assassin turret could look like a futuristic ballista
Some great ideas Vinticus, I never thought of adding special abilities for the turrets. The ones you suggest kind of mirror the pro so it makes the turret so much more 'personal'. Also in doing this you would really have to think hard about where to put your unique turret. An idea to enhance the above would be for the Gunners Dual Miniguns to be inaccurate but fires at a really quick rate.
