not really. whats the deal with these messages. i never liked the MW titles, but i understand what a 10 prestige is. why do people think that others will pay for this? can someone explain the process for me?

Its easy. Tenth prestige lobbies are for people who think having the highest rank makes you gods grace to that game just like leader board position so in turn people have found a way to lie about said lobbies(although some exist) and in turn get a form or currency out of them. They can not be reported by the person they scammed because the both promoted altering a game so the both would get banned for it

    ...
that is one of the funniest effing things i ever heard!

holy crap do i have fun with this. send them voice messages saying MS doesnt really like what they are doing and would love to hear about it. they are all 12 years old and send me messages just about crying for me not to do it. i dont do crap, but i HATE getting these messages because i look forward to hate mail and dont have MW2.

so essentially its like me saying "1600 points for a lvl 99 MNC private match"?

Basically except thats actually pretty easily done compared to either having to hack into Infinity Ward's system or just spending the exact same amount of time playing private matches. With MNC getting to 99 not only means little to alot of people but is easy if you put enough time into the game

The vast majority of them aren't even real. I was talking to a friend the other day and he said his little brother had started scamming people on XBox live, sending messages to everyone offering 10th prestige lobbies. Got enough codes to buy DLC for every game they had, including every single song for Rock Band, with points left over.

Wait, some of those are legit? I always assumed every single one of them was a con. I've had like four of those messages in total, sounded far too suspicious to me.

It's definitely possible. They use a modded XBox to run unsigned code in the game. I've never been in a 10th prestige lobby, but I have been in modded lobbies. For the 10th prestige lobby, they basically just alter the XP given for a kill to some ridiculous amount. It's also possible to do the reverse, making it so a kill give a ridiculous amount of negative XP, knocking you back down to level one.

I mimic a recorded voice message saying: "Modded lobbies violate the MS terms of service. Your IP address has been logged. A MS rep is on his way to your game to record the gamertags of all who are participating. Appropriate action will be undertaken."

Gets a rise out of the little tykes. :)

If they are smart enough to know that I'm full of it, I just send them Billy Mays infomercials.

Possible is a given, but I thought you were implying that any those messages about prestige lobbies were legit. I've just always assumed 100% of them were outright cons.

Unfortunately, people wouldn't do stuff like this if it didn't make them money.

have a friend with a j-taggex xbox. runs linux on his xbox and puts a running program while he is host in a mw2 game. changes xp you get just by entering the game. but he gives you instructions, if you choose something wrong (like you snuck in without him giving you permission), you get enough negative xp to go from 70 to 1.

this friend i have.... is a rare 1-Out-Of-500 most likely. cuz i have had about 500 other friends tell me they scamz for teh microsoft pointers.

anyhow, paying for 10 prestige (with all the unlocked weapons attachments, camoflauges, titles and emblems, ect.) is EQUIVALENT to someone saying you can pay to join the game they host and have modded and you can get everything in MNC (99, all-star, all milestones and highlights, all custom classes)

(hope im not promoting hacking or scamming here. if it helps, to avoid scamming dont use microsoft points and insist on using paypal, because microsoft wont do anything if you got scammed trying to hack your account, but paypal will see it as a service purchased and not delivered and will do something. or you can just ignore them, as MW2 isnt worth a can of toenail clippings as far as entertainment anymore)

bottom-line, a very long prestige system is evil in online games, and everyone should just work on their own accomplishments and protags. im 1st prestige on mw2 and not prestiged at all on cod4, its so damn lame and the ump45 being way too high-damage was the last straw and the last game ill ever play on MW2.
