Disclosure: I'm a HORRIBLE sniper. I pull a lobby on Steel peel, grab traps and passive, hop out onto the bridge. I see a tank, whip my crosshairs over to him, pull trigger, headshot. I never seem to get headshots. I immediately know I have host. That one shot wouldn't happen off host. I fear host snipers now Edit: I fear host snipers WITH BACON now :O
I rarely grab host, but the few times I have, yeah, it's pretty nasty. Lots of fun, but not quite fair.
Host snipers are truly the most frightening things i've ever come across. I've been a host sniper a few times and the fact the bullets travel instantly without lag makes for some really quick kills, even if I don't manage a headshot.
Host sniper is nasty, but I think host gunner is crazier. Minigun sniping is ridiculous when you have host. Host in general is just a large advantage.
the truth is all is unfair when host , any class any gun any game.. its just the way online games are .. sigh i wish we had "numerous" local game centers where people could get together and play these games on a lan.. id start one myself if i had the $$
Aside from some really great shots on moving targets I never see much of a difference to be honest. Great snipers are scary period, on or off host. I've been host and have gotten pwned by the other teams sniper. Perhaps they just had a good connection to me?
My point was that I'm an AWFUL sniper. When I pulled host I went 20 and 2 minimum for several games. I never get that kill count with sniper off host. While that isn't an amazing total of kills, it was top of the lobby every game.
if you cant get headshots put on RoF and go for multiple body shots. the only plus i have seen when i get host is peoples bullets not hitting me and their grapples missing
I think I have been a host sniper maybe 2-3 times and even though it does seem that bullets seem to gravitate to people's heads, the client side hit detection is still pretty good. The only thing that really messes with my sniping is when I have a really poor connection to the host and pros seem to "teleport" 2-3 feet in one direction or another.
