Host/Join in progress issues

After the title update, it almost seems as if connectivity and hosting got worse. I found myself kicked after a join in progress to the title screen several times in a row. The only way out of this screen is to exit to the dashboard and reload the game, which is very annoying. I am really hoping this gets fixed with the new maps/updates. Is anyone else experiencing this? And if so, is there any way around quiting to the dashboard to get in another game?
