Hi there, can someone please help teach me what hotbuild2 has to offer in depth? Like how do I set up templates, recommended key bindings etc. Thanks Edit: Found a tutorial on PAmatches... nvm. I feel silly.
What's your issue with it? If it's just because it is new and hard to get used to just give it time. Really benefits you if you want to become a little faster. I just start using it for mex and energy first, then slowly started learning new buttons.
Every competitive player I've ever talked to would disagree with you. It takes more than a few hours to get used to. So you take a step back in speed while you get used to the keyboard shortcuts, but when you get used to them, they improve your gameplay big time. I guarantee I can build things faster with keyboard shortcuts than you can by finding and clicking on them in the menu.
The past 3 games I lost to someone with a rank of 2020 while using it... whom btw is a c**t because he uses pastats map to send dox in...
I wouldn't test it ranked matches keep it installed and just slowly use in team games or build test v ai games. I remember when I would get a little stressed I ended up going to the build bar as my dumbass brain hadn't enough skills to think strategy and think buttons. After some time it becomes muscle memory and you see the benefits.
I find myself waiting most games as I've already done a decent build queue with my com and all available fabs... The only thing that would be useful is templates for defences etc.
Maybe you are already too quick or not building enough as I find I always have a huge list of things I could be doing but have to prioritize them. I don't know your game style but try harass more. You have the time.
I don't think I'm too quick - it's just that holding shift+<key binding> while clicking can be really annoying especially if you want to get things done while you're under pressure. Often I find that my fabs build too much metal and not enough defences, then when I switch priority, my defences get chopped up by exploits, like walling in front while they build laser... But I think there are problems with the game mechanics which would make things easier, without having to resort to a hotbuild, mainly stuff like making metal scarcer and energy slightly more available.
Ah ok. That explains it better. I use a side mouse button for shift. The thumb button. Would recommend getting a mouse with this feature if you don't have one.
Hmm I might do that. Going to be weird since <shift> has been my favourite key in gaming, from RTS to FPS. <3 Maybe you should train meh clopsey before tomorrow's tourney
Ha yeah there is a learning curve. But once you are used to it you can't play without. You just got to create that muscle memory. At least there are the keyboard key overlays now that help you learn.
Play against AI and force yourself to use hotkeys. You will be 2x slower at the beginning because you will have to remember hotkeys. But once you get used to it, you are much faster. It's a pain to play on the PTE without hotbuild
