OH MY GOD I AM SO ANGRY!!!!!!! my xbox live crapped out on me today, THE DAY BEFORE THE DLC!!!!!!! I have been working for hours trying to fix it and everytime I test connection xbox live spits another problem into my face!!!!! I have tried port forwarding, and it still says that port 3074 is block and it may be my isp(whatever that is) and then it is saying something about plugging my xbox straight into the modem, which it already is. I AM SOOOOOOOOO PISSED RIGHT NOW!!!!!!!!!!!! any techies out there want to help? oh and officerfuttbuck this is why I couldnt join your game or party or anything today. sorry, maybe once I get this fixed we can try again :| seriously though, anybody now how to fix a computer thing? I am using a belkin F5D-7234-4 modem with a router which I currently forget the name. and the xbox is plugged directly into the modem. pleeeeeaaaassssee help me on this one!!!!!
yup, I reset my router, I reset my modem, my xbox live settings, and I got on my router website and completely reset the entire thing and went through and forwarded ports and everything.... TWICE!
ISP = Internet Service Provider (In my case, Verizon, or Frontier.) Give them a call, and see if they are having any problems in your area. If you weren't having any problems before, I'd guess something on the hardware side went wrong. See if you can get a replacement modem. Also, have you tried giving both your modem and router a FACTORY reset (as in, not just unplugging them for sixty seconds, but grabbed a pen and held down the reset button on the back for five seconds)? This will fix some problems, and is very easy to do.
I had to go through my router to get XBL to work right. I hooked it up wall -> modem -> router -> xbox. I couldn't use port forwards so I went into the router's web interface and out the xbox into the "DMZ". Putting a machine in the DMZ means anything on the net can get to any port on the machine. This may be a prob if people ever write xbox viruses but for now I have 0 problems. I had to put the xbox on "static ip" in order to set up the router correctly. Do you know how to make all of this happen? I may be around and may be able to help...
id vouch for this. what may help is this list of things, and to help completing them is some URLs... make sure your router is forwarding some ports. make sure to open your NAT  try a static ip for your xbox 360, make sure to check port forwarding settings so they work with the specific device's ip you set. powercycle every device, from the router to all connected computers to the xbox, and even umplug them from one another. turn them all off, umplug them all, and then plug them back in one by one, starting with the modem, then the xbox, then the router between them, then the other computers (you dont actually hafta umplug the computers, just from the network by the LAN wire)
well I tried to reset my router and modem but that didnt work, so I called my internet provider and they came out and completely reworked everything and gave us new modems and stuff, so everything works fine then I went and put my xbox in my DMZ thing, and port forwarded it, then that powercycle thing brotranquility told me about, and my connection has never been better! thanks for all the help!
