The last few days I have been playing MNC I noticed that the opposing team had, on average, 4 Assaults and 2 Supports. Now, this doesn't bother me too much because I tend to lose anyway, but I wanted to know if this had happened to anyone else, and if so, is it a problem in terms of balance that should be brought up?
Assault is one of the most versatile and easy to pick up classes, most people choose assault or support for their first time playing. Why? Because the assault is the most familiar to other games they've played and support they can be defensive with a firebase and healing people and get the hang of the game without being completely confused. As for a tier list for the characters I would rank it kind of like this A Tier: Assault Assassin Gunner Sniper B Tier: Tank C Tier: Support - The sniper has the largest skill gap and really gives people who can aim well a ton of tools to do so. Any retard can through some traps around them and snipe people standing still but a good sniper can take out any class in the game. So that class could be an S tier if you're good enough. Assault and Assassin are probably the best overall though, neither take a ton of aiming skill but if you know what you're doing they're the best. Assassin clears bots, kills turrets and can even slay pretty well while the assault can also clear bot lanes and slay better then most classes, mostly due to his bomb and charge to get in and out of places quickly and control important spots. Obviously a gunner lights this class up but if you're smart you can easily corner the gunner, or just out maneuver around him and flank him before he can react. - So yeah the support should get some buffs and the assault might need some nerfs, mostly to his charge recharge time. The assassin is fine, easy to stop while juiced, just grapple him. Wastes like 4 seconds and he will probably only kill you. Supports, other assassins, assaults with bomb or charge x3, tanks(grapple/charge) and gunners(grapple/slam) have ways to slow/stop assassins from juicing. So that class is fine. The tank might need a buff but that's mostly to deal with gunners, a level 3 passive gunner destroys tanks, of course I don't run armor x3 on my tank so maybe it's not too bad but if you want to be able to take out a gunner you either have to be WAY away or REALLY close. Tanks are terrible from like 6 or 7 feet away. The rest are fine.
Ive had acouple games like that but I think its because of the fact that assault players that are great are encouraging most players to try the assault out for themselves now.
I suppose I should clarify. I didn't mean that the Assault was a problem, but that since I do not know the game very well, if someone who had more experience than me had seen any reason power wise as to why the Assault would suddenly become more popular. When I say more popular, I mean that I have never played against teams filled with Assaults like I have the last few days, so it surprised me. But yes, I completely agree with you, thanks for the response!
Leave it to a MLGer to make a tier list. Anywho, assault is the big slayer, and as uber said, the anti assassin, with the assassin getting buffed a spike in assaults is to be expected, also, assault is who you play in the intro, so of course newer people will play him.
I'm trying to go assault lately, mainly because I'm AWFUL at it and need to get better. I don't know if it's because I'm generally suicidal or stupid, or I never pull host but damn I just can't get it going with the assault half the time.
I felt the exact same way, then switched to Armor, Accuracy, RoF. It made a world of difference. Learning to use the bomb (which I still stink with) is the biggest factor in how awesome you can do, IMO.
Yeah I have a brain and know what classes work well in most scenarios. God forbid I make a list to show him how the classes range in terms of how useful they are against good people. Please only focus on a fraction of my post, because the rest wasn't helpful at all. /sarcasm
I don't think tiers apply in this game, but assault is the easiest to play well as. It can compete with any other class while requiring little skill to use. No bad match-ups, insane mobility, so you don't have to avoid chasing or choose fights, bomb is a OHKO on some classes and recharges in 8 seconds. Small hitbox, high jump, spray and pray weapon, fast movement, decent health, insane mobility, benefits from bad connection. I've considered changing up our teams set up once the tournament happens because of how it has become.
If anything, the assault, tank, and assassin have the highest learning curves. And nayr, i was kidding, i tend to do that, but in a game where every class has VARIOUS playstyles (IE Dissidia) a tier list is impossible, especially since you're basing it on pvp instead of objective, there's so many things to be done that there'd be a billion tier lists.
Gunners are second-highest on my "Pros killed" counter, and I mostly play Tank. Product Grenade messes up Gunners, as does the Railgun. A Gunner would tear anyone up from 6 feet away. Close range? The trick is to Flame, Charge, backpedal and Railgun/ 'Nade. Works best with Charge 3. I fear good Assaults far more that good Gunners. I'm slow and big - easy to Heacrab - and unless I roll accuracy I'm going to have difficulty hitting them with the Railgun.
I don't think you can get much easier than standing still and shooting.. The Sniper, is the easiest class to play. Unless the one playing it is completely retarded and think we are playing CoD and can just go up and knife someone.. other than that its not hard at all to play the Sniper.. the easiest actually.
i still seem to see more assassins and snipers because of the influx of new players in AUS...i can charge assassins all day and bomb snipers all night, bring them on.....by no means is an assault the easiest class though, anyone can play it yes and pass, there's not very many who are REALLY good with it
I honestly think that the assault and assassin have the lowest learning curves when playing with and against good people, not pubs. Tank and gunner are the highest. Tank and sniper are the only classes in this game that require gunskill though.
