To keep this short, an enemy decided to launch a moon at my moon, and I responded with launching my moon at his planet. The game did fine until my moon hit hit planet. At the point the game from and it said disconnected from server.
That's odd, I noticed this as well, built 3 engines, sent the moon to his planet, upon impact the game froze.
I can confirm there are som issues with the planet smash, I had a crash last night, right before impact, the game crashed.
Happened to me too. Right before impact, the simulation froze. The game worked, but none of the units or factories were moving. Freezes around 2:52:23 http://www.twitch.tv/y2bcrazy/b/509109869
I had a similar issue as well. I ran the game with 1 AI on Sandbox mode just to test the Halley, and all was well, but on impact with a planet, I could hear the impact but the video froze. Once the dust presumably cleared, the video picked back up, with the moon gone and the planet's units/structures wiped out. Even on replay, the playback acted the same way.
Planet smashes involve massive changes to the geometry of a planet. As a result of this, servers become unnstable when planets are smashed. Gamma is gamma, stability is flux.
