I think the general consensus is that the Gunner's Red Skill is pretty close to useless. I think I may have an idea that goes with the theme of the gunner. A target marker. What do I mean by this? Well, you press the Skill button, and the gunner tosses out a small, difficult to spot target designator. Once you're a safe distance away, switch to your mortar, aim upwards... there is an arch traced through the sky towards your position, indicating the angle you need to fire to hit where you placed your target marker! Rank one would just be the targeter telling you where to aim. Rank two would decrease the spread of your mortar split shot while aiming at the designated arch. Rank three would increase your fire rate by 10% when aiming at the designated arch. I've experimented in the open maps but can't seem to find the perfect spot to bombard the enemy base with. Granted, Steel Peel will eliminate the effectiveness of this skill for the same reason gapshots and longshots are nearly useless. Since its a wishlist, I'm tossing something I consider a neat idea out there. Thoughts? Its not easily abused since once you see where he's firing, you can avoid the area, plus it takes a pro out of the fight for long distance base bombardment. Plus, even if you tightened the spread on the mortar alot more, it still separates so the individual mortar shots don't combine on one target.
I really like this idea for a future new pro class, but i am not feeling it for the gunner class as it is at present. My choice to replace the not useless but not nearly usefull enough to be worth buying Gunner Grapple would be an ability that gives the Gunner a quick defensive upwards jump, the gunner could then use his thrusters to maneuver and fire or his slam skill to drop back down to earth.
Aha, this is quite clever. But yes. Perhaps for a future class. EDIT: Oh, and as long as it can't be tossed like an airstrike. If the class would have to physically be in the spot, poop it out and leave without dying .. That'd be legit.
