RoF isn't necessary in all situations. Armor is definitely useful though. For classes without RoF, try these: Tank and Assassin: Armor/Health Regen/Skill Recovery Assault: Armor/Accuracy/Skill Recovery Gunner: RoF is a must unless you substitute with crits Support: RoF is reccommended, but Skill Regen/Armor/Health Recovery would be good for quick health recovery and frequent airstrikes. Sniper: Armor/Skill Recovery/Health Recovery is good for an SMG sniper.
Agree, an assassin w/o RoF at least silver has way more trouble with turrets and quick bot dispatching than one with RoF. I cannot ever recomment RoF lower than silver on an assassin. Not saying it isn't possible, but really...have fun downing those turrets and pushing your lane for the win.
The tank doesn't HAVE to have RoF for his railgun. It is nice but not necessary. Obsidiananyte played assassin with the build I mentioned. She did okay.
Without ROF on assassin, you're cutting out (pun intended LOL) your sword's effectiveness. Now you only have grapple and lunge. In other words, you're a pro killer now, which means you're not as useful vs. bots. Support without ROF as Gold isn't healing as fast as he should be. Tank without ROF has a crap rail gun. I don't know enough about Gunner to make a call on how necessary it is for him. Sniper needs it at least Silver, but i prefer Gold. Assault doesn't need it.
There are a lot of variables. Here is my thinking. Let's say two tanks face off. One is using RoF/Armor/Skill, the other Armor/Skill/Health. The first tank has more RoF than the second tank, but the second tank has more armor, can regen health back much more quickly, and can blind the first tank more frequently. If you cannot see, you cannot aim. At that point it doesn't matter who has better RoF, it comes down to who can see to shoot. Like I said, this game has a lot of variables. The OP said that RoF was necessary. I use RoF on my tank, but I don't see it as a necessity. It really comes down to playstyle and preference.
I use Accuracy/Reload Speed/Juice on my Tank. It works, I swear. I have pulled 2 Ubers in 3 days with that build. Best game: 42-15-2 with over 90 bot kills.
Yo FuttBuck, what are you thinking man? Obviously he knows what he's talking about. RoF is DEFINITELY not needed on the tank. I used Reload Speed/Juice/Speed in a random match against random people and pulled a random score. It all depends on how random your playstyle is.
Regarding the fight between two railgun tanks, there are other factors that you have to think of. Primarily, if you're actively engaging each other, there is almost no way your health regeneration is going to mean a lick of difference as long as you're getting hit every...5 seconds? With RoF, there's almost no way you can't find a way to do that. As for health, I think you're just at a better advantage to be better at Clutch-Heal, or have that available. When it comes to railgun, i've never seen a tank that has a +1 to armor over his opponent get much advantage. Railgun is pretty static to tanks in the damage it seems to deal out. The speed of those shots from Gold RoF/Silver Armor vs Zero RoF/Gold armor would by far out damage the other tank's life. But, each play is going to play how they want, that's the beauty of the game giving you class choices, and letting you pick your endorsements.
Shammas played armorless tank and did well. There are many different playstyles out there. I just listed a few I had tried. I was playing randoms though. To me, it seems like randoms should be considered decent now that the competitive play has died. Randoms are really the only choice available now.
Shammas believes you should always have a support holding you're nuts if your a gunner or a tank. If you don't have one in a pub that never stops healing you then never use armor less.
