    Hey,

I upgraded from a gtx 460 to a gtx 970 because I figured some of my lag was because of the card.

    I was totally wrong.

I played with all low settings on the gtx 460 and other than low fps I didn't have lag. Since I've upgraded to the gtx 970 I have massive lag (even if I change all the settings to low) ... this sux so bad I'm tempted to go back to the gtx 460 card. I only bought the 970 so I could play this.

Does anyone else play with a gtx 970?

Does anyone have any decent theories as to what is going on?

I'm in Australia in case it's a network latency issue (but I find that hard to believe as it wasn't there when I was using the gtx 460).

What is your amount of RAM?
There was reports that Nvidia drivers don't work stable with 32GB on GTX970.

First things first, try the offline mode. That rules out internet.

Also check settings to ensure pa is running on the 970 (modern machines all have integrated graphics on the cpu as well, probably not the issue but worth a look).

You may also need to wipe old drivers and reinstall them. Post a Dxdiag if you need more help :)

Wauw that's like compleet overkill and trowing money away if you only bought it for PA.
a GTX970 can play PA probably 10 times simultaneously before running out of resources with the power it got.
But yeah driver is mostly the biggest problem, it's a new card and this happens every time that the drivers are still in development.

Jup 970 is probably overkill unless you want the game in 4k or supersample 175%. My GTX 770 runs the game at 70 to 140fps and could probably go higher since PA is bottlenecked by the cpu. So if your cpu is bad, your framerate will not increase that much when you go to a better GPU. What is your processor, or post a Dxdiag ;)

do you have three or four RAM sticks?
If so try running on two only.
I received my 970 this morning, so i'm gonna test it this evening.

I set up a locally hosted game against 7 ai on a small moon.

Maximum fps I see is 20. Avg is probably 12-15.

Ok so i just plugged in my 970 and reinstalled the driver, and i must say i had no problems at all. I played a 10p FFA with just me and AI and it was all fine throughout the game. Maybe its because you have more than two separate RAM sticks?

Gotta edit my sig lol ^^

More then 2 ram sticks has nothing to do with it, i got a tripple channel motherboard with 3x6Gig of ram and it works perfect, altho i do not posses a GTX970 but a GTX680 ^^

Ram and vid card do not effect each other, because if so he would have had the exact same trouble now, but instead it got worse

RAM and video card do affect each other, typically some drivers from Nvidia can mess up with a certain combo of GFX card and RAM sticks. It's all tied up witha single chip, the northbridge, after all.

In this particular case, having more than two RAM stick seems to cause issues with the GTX 970 and 980 on the latest drivers.
