It may or may not have been a sideways swipe at the reaction to PA's release. Possibly. Or then again possibly not. Who knows?

To be honest, closed alpha in June to launch following Jan with no beta sounds like a recipe for disaster... I mean imagine if only the pa alpha backers got to play pa before release? The larger player base and longer testing phases help identify and squash lots of bugs that would otherwise have been missed.

This strikes me as another example of lack of funds in rts genre. Wait for reviewers to have to cope with a few bugs on review and watch them tear into it just like with pa.

The only thing going for them is the subject matter is more mainstream and familiar so at least they won't get slated due to a reviewer who can't cope with 3d controls and maps.

I know you were being ironic warner, but sadly I think you may have hit the nail bang on....

I wrote a fairly lengthy piece around that topic at the time of the HR kickstarter. I was really hoping that Uber would be able to secure the funds not only because HR looked awesome, but because I strongly suspect that publishers and developers will look to it as a litmus test when considering launching a new IP in the RTS genre. The results unfortunately speak for themselves.

I am apparently ablee to come to my own conclusions.

hr just shows the mainstream interest in rts, new titles, and kickstarter. All the mainstreams fault. One of these days scientists will be able to implant synthetic taste buds and hopefully cure the world.

ask for grey goo, it uses simpler design and program, no? It's likely legit near done. Compared to PA, grey goo would be as difficult as a pa total conversion but no more than half the likely work to actually build pa.
