Anyone who's played street fighter knows that you stop a grab with your own grab and you both cancel. Same concept here would be awesome! Maybe make it to where you're half charged for the next one afterward to avoid an epic grapple canceling spam fight. :lol:
This would largely hurt the usefulness of Assassins, especially since you can switch weapons during grapples.
The way I see it is if you're trying to front grapple with the assassin, you're doing it wrong. And most people probably wouldn't even have their grapple weapon out to be able to cancel. Think of it like the chainsaw duel in Gears. If one person tries to fight a chainsaw without their own in melee combat, they lose.
Oh, I thought you meant for it to apply to all grapples, not just front grapples. Still, I don't really see much point to this. Grapples are hard enough to land already (unless you're an Assassin, Assault (charge grapple), or occasionally Sniper). They should provide some sort of substantial reward for having the balls to go up to them in close combat. This is just an easy get out of jail free card. ...and weren't chainsaw duels in Gears just MASH B AS FAST AS YOU CAN RAWR?
Yes, bad example. The street fighter one makes more sense. Basically I'm saying in order to cancel someone's grapple, you have to hit yours at almost exactly the same time with a very small buffer, you basically have to know it's coming to stop it. Just like in Street Fighter. I wouldn't really want a "tap button faster" thing because then you'd have those lovely modders with their infinite button pressing machine of insta-win. Just canceling and delaying the grapple sounds better to me.
Ohhh, I see. Yeah, I guess if the game gave you a very tiny window to cancel, that would be okay. As long as you aren't able to cancel at any time during the animation sequence. THAT would be bad.

I wouldn't be a fan of that and I don't even really use a class that grapples much. I just think if you wanna help yourself against grappling you need to pick up Armor or something. That is what it is there for IMO.
