so i finally get my pre-order of Planetary Annihilation tonight in the form of Galactic Edition, i'm pretty bummed i missed the deadline for the super crazy limited edition version of the cosmic edition otherwise i definitely would've gotten that...was unfortunately moving a couple weeks before the deadline, so funds were limited until the day AFTER the L.E. discontinued :[ anyway, tangent aside, I also picked up a game called Loadout just now off of Steam, looks right up my alley and i love getting in on early access (win-win for me and the game studio). First screen in Loadout is to make a new account. I attempt to do so: "this e-mail address is already in use"...oh cool, i must've already bought a game from these punks. my usual password doesn't work...damn there's no password reset button...damn i'll just search my inbox for the registration e-mail and reset it. bottom of login screen reads "Ubernet"...that sounds REALLY familiar for some reason. oh well. searching the inbox for "Ubernet" yields 0 results. Impossibru! I don't delete those e-mails, but somehow I have an account used in this game, that I apparently don't use anywhere else or else I'd have at least the registration e-mail.. after googling "loadout game email already in use", i came across a forum thread in the Loadout forum asking for a reset link. the link from the person who responded has "uberent"...at this point i'm kicking myself for not just trying the password i used for my recently created Uber Entertainment account, but i had tried, and failed, to find any relation between the two games or game studios. if i missed something ridiculously obvious, forgive me as I'm currently quite sick and underlspet it simply appears Uber Entertainment and really awesome games go hand in hand which leads me to the obvious question i would have - How do the game studios Uber Entertainment and Edge of Reality relate? I couldn't really find anything, but they appear to be using the same account for UberEnt's forum / site, and Loadout's actual game. and so ends my quite confusing roundabout journey. i thought it was pretty amusing when i figured it all out, but just in case somebody else is as daft as i am i'll be posting on the Loadout forums to suggest a reset password button. edit* i can't find a way to get back to the initial login screen for Loadout, so I can't check to confirm that I did indeed see "Ubernet" instead of "Uberent". while I can't check, I distinctly remember checking like 5 times to make sure I wasn't crazy, so I'll have to ask about that on the Loadout forum as well I guess.
Ubernet is a backend used by some developers, including the makers of Loadout. Uberent is Uber Entertainment, the creators of Ubernet as well as SMNC, Planetary Annihilation, MNC and Outland games.
thanks for clearing that up. that being said, i'm still not sure why they use the same game account, is one a parent company or something i'm oblivious to?
Uber Entertainment is making the ubernet api available to selected developers so they can have easy account management, without having to worry about the whole deal. Just plug that in and you're good to go and you can focus on other more important matters.
