Going to try Assassin without Rate of Fire.

Let's face it, any competent opposition will not allow you near their turrets, and I don't use Shurikens often enough to justify RoF, so here's what I'm thinking instead:

I've changed my build from Arm/RoF/Clip to Arm/Regen/Rate with fantastic results as you will see this weekend.
But try without rate? No, I do not.

Honestly, what else is worth the slot for RoF?

Higher damage dealing potential, or other, less useful things?

I personally used Gold Skill Recovery, Silver Armor and Bronze Crtitical Shots.
It was a good build for slaying pros but super GAY on pushing bots and destroying turrets.
Kinda fragile too.

The damage potential's only really good for unguarded turrets and shurikens, the former normally having a support and the latter I never use (yes, I'm a bad assassin).

I have been using RoF/Armor/Clip to good success lately. If you want to have a good all-round class for bot slaying and shruken spamming, this is it.

In pubs, it works quite well. In situations where you have to play assassin differently, it doesn't work out so well. Gold armor is a must versus good players.

Rof still helps you decimate bots

I stopped running rate of fire since pros that can be killed with Shuriken are usually stationary (so rate of fire is unnecessary here), and while helps destroy turrets faster, if you assault a base correctly, you won't even need to take them out quicker. Also, while it also helps you dismantle bots more quickly, if enemy pros are pushing bots so well that rate of fire will determine whether you can tear a cluster of bots apart or get killed trying, you shouldn't be attacking those bots by yourself.

So I run

Gold - Armor
Silver - Skill Recovery/Speed (default silver speed is WAY helpful)
Bronze - Health Recovery

I never looked back. I usually go with Skill Recovery over Speed, though.

Why would you stop running RoF? I'm guessing this is for the competitive scene, as an assassin your job is to kill bots RoF helps out alot with that, also the point is not going avoiding the turrets but killing them when you get a chance. out of the builds you posted though, I'd go with the first one

Look at my team name. Say 'competitive scene' with a straight face.

RoF is NOT necessary on the Assassin by any means. The problem is, what is there to replace it with?

Skill & Health Regen

I already use Health Regen, and Skill Regen is next to useless for the Assassin.
