Maybe uber could add a brush to the "desert", "Jungle", and "grass" sub-biomes,
this brush would be a black mex spot with an emitter that emits a steam texture. (im guessing your using emitters for the nanite streams, so attaching an emitter to a black tear in the ground should be easy)

Then we could have geothermal power-plants :)

    *cough* hint hint *cough*

Sounds like a great idea! Adding volcanoes and earthquakes would be cool too.

As long as I understand it's might be a problem currently. I'm tried very hard, but I can't find any way to stick particle emitter to some object on map. As long as I understand currently you can only use it with unit:
    https://forums.uberent.com/threads/...-set-particle-emitter-on-certain-place.51492/

So actually it's should be possible to stick emitter to power plant itself :)

What does unit have that biome brush does not have??
maybe adding animation bones to brush will allow you to attach an emitter?

    --- edited----
with animation bone in brush, you don't need an animation just the bones

As long as I understand "brushes" are only used in planet generation process. When it's done they're don't used at all.

So you can't use effects with brushes, but if it's possible that's will be cool if somebody of devs kick me in right direction.

maybe we can make the geothermal vent a unit.
have a unit that is flat and doesn't move and not selectable or destroyable.
make it the emitter like your snowman unit :)

then game engine could spawn this unit on planet.

    This require server-side access :(

Actually I'm find good solution for snow using "S" "N", but this won't work for your idea.

hopefully devs will add our ideas :) i really like the look of the snow.
can we make an invisible unit?
    no texture and see through?
i know it wont work now but for your snow, maybe invisible orbital fighter or ion cannon unit would be awesome for emitting snow.
then when game is released, if it doesn't have our ideas added we could add them in ourselves.

I think this is a great idea honestly. I stumbled upon the TA unit list and just looked at Geo thermal power.

I think its a great way to add to "strategic land advantages"

I think there can be more planet specific bonuses since the metal planet can be turned into a cool death star.

Maybe water planets can have underwater volcanoes

I'd love to see one of the three following:

    1. Planet-specific building types
    2. Planet-specific building substitutions

For example 1, Geothermal Plants could be built on Lava worlds.
For example 2, regular Power Plants would become Geothermal Plants (with unique art) on Lava worlds.

I prefer 2, personally, but a mix of both might be appropriate - the net result being that each planet has a perk beyond looking different and having a different water distribution. Earth, Tropical and Desert worlds are easily the hardest to figure out, since they're roughly variations on a theme.

The unique thing for Metal Planets, of course, has to be a Halley-scale-project Control Array or something, a certain number of which are required to activate the planet's signature weapon.
