I'm useless at using forums but I hope someone sees this:

    1) Is it possible, say down the right hand side of the screen to keep track of how many builder unit/army/air etc. you currently have. And part of this a visible way to keep tabs on what unit group stuff is in (i.e. selecting ground builders on crtl + 1, then being able to see how many you grouped)
    2) Easier swapping from ground to orbital units.

For the record I am already in love with Beta, and anything you do can only make it better! Thank you so much!

If you double click a unit or press control-z all the same of that unit are selected. If you then look bottom left it will tell you what unit and how many you have.

If you select 2 different types you can decide which units you want. Clicking on the icon of say 31 dox and all of that unit will be selected

Thank you for the help. But I was talking more specificially control groups not just selecting multiple of one unit

Control groups are discussed in the controls sticky at top of beta forums. I believe holding control and clicking a number while having units selected assigns them to a group together, and clicking the number again selects them again together.

Currently, it is just a matter of cycling as clopse said. You can either select a unit and choose to select all of them, or you can highlight a bunch of units and use the bottom left list to select individual units from that, and you can hold shift to select something while having something else selected, but to select anything you have to just do combinations of that. The control groups are just a way to quickly save a "selection" of units you made to quickly reselect later.

Usually, I just use select all on my screen, and order individually. If it is units, I order all combat first, then set all anti air or something to "follow" behind one of the farther back combat units as an "assist" order, then if I need I set fabbers individually amongst the combat units under assist order but that is fairly consuming micro without an "area assist" command.
