Call me crazy, but I thought this sounded interesting. Imagine a gamemode where buildings were shared. Commanders and units were still independent and controlled by the specific player, but buildings created by the player joined a pool that was shared by all allies. (perhaps factories could be controlled independently, but that's a minor contention point). Mostly, what I'm imagining is having to balance a single economy between three players, and the very interesting gameplay that this would provide. Ideas? Thoughts? Suggestions? Derogatory comments?
I would queue up a million of the cheapest units on all your factories. I've actually played a game-mode where you shared everything and it was surprisingly fun. But only when you're on voice-comms or in the same room.
I thought this was already confirmed to be possible? Edit: Sorry - I think I misunderstood the OP. However I think I read that it would be possible for multiple players to play a single faction.
Actually "Star Wars: Galactic Battleground" allowed two lan players to control the same ingame player and it was quite fun!
This is already planned, as well as sc2 style share control checkmarks. The specifics of sharing income, production infrastructure, etc. can be worked out in beta.
See, what I'm saying is more than simply sharing economy supcom style: I'm saying, as a gamemode, make the economy universal between players. As in, they actually share the economy pool. This is different than just sharing, this is like having one cookie jar full of cookies and having two people bake and eat those cookies. Imagine...you could truly have someone go full economy, someone go air, someone go land, because there's only one resource pool for allies. Oh man.
I think instead of a gamemode shared economy should just be an option you check off like shared control. That's what I'm saying. Shared Intel, Shared Control, Shared Economy (therefore shared production), as well as Alliance and Shared Victory.
But this has been confirmed, multiple players sharing control of one army (and therefore one economy). This is not the same as Supreme commander sharing, which only shared excess resources or specifically shared units, but units were always owned by one player. In other words, "Players" in PA is a separate concept from "Armies" (which make up "Teams").
what he is saying is that players have individual armies but shared economy, then one player can suply the others with money and the others can concentrate on their armies. it is close to complete sharing of everything, but not exactly the same.
Fair enough with commanders being independent, but what's the point of separate armies? If anything, it's a disadvantage, and having factories separate is just kludgy design.
I don't see why you would share buildings and not armies. No troll protection is gained by only sharing structures and it does not take much more organisation to share units as well as structures.
OP, this is something like what is expect: drop down menu for sharing (each one includes the above): ---- Share Victory Share Intel Share Control (Army) Share Economy (Income & Production) and then a normal diplo alliance/ceasefire and gifting UI
