A couple of suggestions for the game creation screen to make it a little more intuitive: The colour selector goes forward (onto the next colour) regardless of if I right or left click. This means I have to go all the way around again if I accidentally skip past the colour I was after. I suggest making right clicking on the colour selector makes it go in the opposite direction to left clicking. Maybe a few indicators on the commander selection screen that clicking on it changes your Commander/Colour? Just a pair of little arrows either side < O > (where O is the commander picture) would make it that little bit more intuitive.
Currently the left click changes the primary colour and the right click changes the secondary colour. So the indeed always go to the next colour. For the time being, you can install the "Favourite Colour" mod. It will preselect your favourite colour for you, so you won't skip past it. Install the mod manager (Linux, Mac or Windows) and download it from there.
