I have sent reports etc., but right now that isnt the point. I think this is an engine bug that is outside of Uber Entertainments control. However people have found success in fixing the black clouds issue through changing graphics settings, so my post is to ask if anyone has found a way to prevent the constant crashing caused by Monday Night Combat through any combinations of game settings. Also, how many people actually have this problem? If I am the only one, I can think about what is unique about my system (like having 2 sound cards). In a shellnut, the game crashes my entire PC relentlessly in one of two ways. #1: Screen goes black and PC automatically reboots. #2: Screen freezes and audio glitches up horribly. Requires manual force-reboot. So my questions are: #1: Who else has this problem? #2: Has anyone found any combinations of settings that can stop this? L. Spiro
Probably the only time I've had the screen go black was the likely result of overclocking my laptop GPU without adequate cooling measures. The GPU automatically shuts off at a certain point, but I could still hear everything going on in game, the GPU would come back on a minute later. Of course, this wasn't a problem with the game itself. Have you tried any other UE3 based games or possibly the UDK itself. Off topic: Dual soundcards huh? SLI soundcards anyone?
I used to check the cards to see if they were hot when it crashes and they were always very cool so I havent checked recently. I assume they are not overheating. To be safe, I used to minimize the game whenever it was loading etc., but it stilled crashed even while minimized, lower resolutions, etc. Keeping my room at freezing temperatures doesnt help either. I have no other games running Unreal Engine 3. I have no way to narrow it down between being a sound issue or a graphics issue, though I am sure it is one or the other, and my guess is graphics. This is an extremely serious issue. I only get to play after work late at night, for about 2 hours. During that time it crashes 3 or 4 times. I get pissed off because I lose ~$4,000 multiple times per night (I have lost over $300,000 to this problem) and my Japanese Steam friends are getting pissed off because they usually lose as soon as I crash, even if we were in a winning position. And other people think I am a frequent rage quitter (even though I try to get right back into the same game if it isnt full by the time I reboot). L. Spiro PS: One sound card for gaming, one for making music/recording.
you got dual 5870's don't you? i have one and i don't have any issues, maybe the game doesn't like crossfire?
Well, you could try to remove all the hardware that isn't necessary to run your PC and look if that helps. MNC runs pretty stable for me unless I Alt+Tab out. I hope the new Unreal engine will help with a few issues like this.
could be something as simple as a dodgey stick of ram i used to have a similar issue with ut2004 used to run prime 95 fine mem test showed nothing but ut would always crash pulled a stick of ram to get another pc running and ut never crashed again
The only time the game crashes on me is if I alt tab out for an extended period. The PC is fine other than that though. Just the game locks up and I have to force quit it, but I can then launch it right away and be back in fairly quickly.
Well then it is not my issue. Tonight it only crashed once, so I was lucky. Good games [6*]Tiblolan. I have to admit I am not willing to remove hardware one-by-one because: #1: Sometimes crashes are far apart. If I remove a piece and it does not crash, I cant be sure that it means I solved the problem. #2: Which means I have to open my case and test over 2 days to be sure, and I just dont have that kind of time. So a single Radeon HD 5870 will not cause this? So it could be my dual cards, or my dual sound cards, or my CPU. Meh I give up. Just update to the newest Unreal Engine 3 Uber Entertainment. ****! L. Spiro
can you not set in ccc for mnc to only use i gpu that way you remove nothing? can you not live with only 1 sound card for a week or so for testing? end of the day how do you know it is an engine issue and not a hardware one if you dont do some testing and because it seems to be the done thing in your threads now Z.Unit
Good idea. I will try that when I get home. Also, anyone using a Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty Championship soundcard? That is the one I use for Monday Night Combat. The other should be just sitting in the background not causing problems. It should be anyway L. Spiro
