How about Tier 2 power generator that require water and it will slowly deplete the ocean and all the ships will just sit at the bottom of the ocean floor.

heh. i like the idea - makes me smile. don't see it going into PA though.

might it be moddable? if it's possible to alter the "water level" of the planet after it's already been loaded by the players... but what do I know?

This idea gets tossed around Alot I really wonder what the developers think about this since it gets brought up multiple times.

i see no real use for this with the ammount of generators we have and will have already ....
    rather gimmicky imo

This kind of stuff is interesting because I wonder if will be possible to mod it into the game. Obviously Uber isn't going to add this to the base game. Will modders be able to alter planets like that - like lowering water levels over time in-game?

I think having it drain the oceans is a bit gimmicky, but having a few unique power generators like hydro-electric, solar, wind, etc. would be good, and I think Uber have already mentioned they want to add more than the basic power generators in to the game.

It would be cool but I think it would be hard to implement. Similar to the planet collisions it is changing the pathing map, but this would be harder. Instead of swapping out a mesh once you are changing it out every second or more if more than one player is using it.

You would then run into the problem of not updating the pathing map after a change to the planet mesh(Ocean drain in this case). This seams to be a big problem with planet smashes where they don't re-gen the pathing map. If it was simple then they would of just had it re-gen after a smash. In the livestream this was brought up briefly and it seamed like they had been working on this issue for a while.
